Blue Glass Bottle, Glossy Golden White Pump, 15 ml

The 15 ml glass bottle with pump is packaging for small volumes of cosmetics that are dispensed in small amounts and without fingers touching the contents. It suits facial and eye serums, light fluids, treatment oils and moisturising gels. Blue glass lets through less light than clear glass, which helps with light-sensitive ingredients. The glossy white and gold pump gives the bottle the look of a finished product, so the set suits small batches, gift packs and personal use.

A small volume makes good sense. Serums with active ingredients are used up slowly, and a smaller bottle holds less air above the liquid. It is also a good size for trying out new formulas that it does not yet make sense to produce in larger quantities.

What the set is suited for

• Serums and fluids – liquid to medium-thick textures that the pump can draw up, where dispensing in small amounts is valued.
• Facial and hair oils – the pump lets you apply a few drops without a dropper, and the blue glass limits the light reaching the oil.

• Samples and test batches – a customer or tester can try a new product in packaging that looks like the final one.

How the pump works

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of contents. The pump draws the contents up through a dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle, so only a small residue is left at the bottom once it is empty. On first use, press the pump several times to prime it until the tube fills and the contents start to come out.

The consistency of the contents determines how they will be dispensed. Very thin liquids, for example water-based toners, may still drip from the head after pressing. Thick creams and butters are difficult or impossible to dispense. If your formula is borderline, we recommend filling one bottle and testing how the pump behaves before filling the whole batch.

Nominal and brimful volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling, in this case 15 ml. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck, which you can find in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the dip tube and the pump body, which take up part of the space once screwed in, and for contents that expand when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume. A bottle filled to the brim will overflow when the pump is fitted.

Preparation and filling

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Residual moisture would get into an anhydrous oil or dilute a preserved system. Disinfect the pump in the same way, pumping the alcohol through the mechanism several times and letting it evaporate. After filling, wipe the neck of the bottle so that no contents remain under the thread, and tighten the pump evenly.

The set can be reused. When changing the contents, rinse the pump with warm water and pump it through the dip tube so that no residue of the previous formula remains in the mechanism. Oil residues are removed by ethanol.

Good to know

• Hot filling – fill emulsions and gels only after they have cooled, so that thickened contents do not settle in the tube.
• Pump and essential oils – the pump is made of polypropylene and contains an aluminium part. For formulas with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, we recommend checking that the plastic does not change in appearance over time and that the mechanism stays clear.
• Transport – when sending or carrying a filled bottle, check that the pump is tight when the bottle is lying on its side and when the temperature changes. You can secure the head with tape or a transport closure.
• Documents – we have a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products for the pump; the glass bottle itself does not have one. The set is not approved for contact with food. You will find the documentation for the individual components with the product.
• Other closures – the bottle on its own can also be used with other closures for the same type of neck, which is given in the parameters. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formula.
• Recycling – the glass bottle belongs with glass, and the pump contains several materials and should be separated from the bottle before sorting.
