Product description

A clear plastic bottle with a fine mist sprayer is intended for toners, hydrosols and refreshing mists that you want to keep at hand in your handbag or on the go. The 50 ml volume is enough for facial toners, face and body sprays, hair sprays, hydrating mists and smaller batches of alcohol-based fragrances that you give to customers to try. The PET plastic medicine bottle is light and, unlike glass, does not break when dropped, so it also holds up in the bathroom or during exercise. The clear material shows the colour of the contents and how much of the product is left. The sprayer is black and has a smoky overcap.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact, the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Declarations of conformity for both components are provided with the product.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrosols – water-based products without thickeners pass through the sprayer without problems and form an even mist on the skin.
  • Face and body mists – light water-based formulations with glycerine, aloe or a solubilised essential oil at a low usage rate.
  • Hair sprays – low-viscosity conditioning and refreshing hair sprays.
  • Alcohol-based sprays and fragrance samples – a travel-size pack of eau de parfum or cologne, where the clear bottle shows how much is left. We recommend testing how your specific alcohol-based formulation behaves with plastic.
  • Refreshing hand sprays – a smaller batch for your handbag or desk.

The sprayer dispenses in small doses and is designed for liquids with a viscosity close to water. Thick serums, oils or gel textures will not be dispersed by it, and the nozzle may become blocked.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling, in this case 50 ml. The physical volume of the bottle up to the neck is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer tube, which takes up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filling for the first time, it is worth screwing on the closure and checking that nothing is pushed out through the thread.

Check the sprayer tube before screwing it on. It should reach almost to the bottom of the bottle so that the contents can be used up as much as possible. If it is longer, cut it at an angle so that the end does not stick to the bottom.

Good to know

Before first filling, we recommend washing the bottle and the sprayer, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Moisture inside would dilute a water-based formulation and increase the risk of microbial growth, especially in weakly preserved products.

Clear PET provides no protection from light. Store hydrosols, toners with vitamins or plant extracts, and alcohol-based fragrances away from direct sunlight, or fill them into a clear bottle only for a shorter period of use. Dark glass is more suitable for contents that are sensitive to light.

PET is sensitive to some ingredients. Undiluted essential oils, a higher proportion of solvents or aggressive chemicals can soften, deform or cloud it. For formulations with a higher content of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend leaving the filled set to stand for several weeks and monitoring the tightness, the appearance of the bottle and the function of the sprayer. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents, and let solutions cool before filling.

After use, rinse the sprayer with clean water and spray it empty. Dried contents in the nozzle are the most common reason why it stops dispensing.

The set can be used repeatedly. When switching to another product, wash it thoroughly and disinfect it again. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP; once taken apart, both components belong in plastic waste according to the rules of your municipality.

Closures with the same neck finish and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, we recommend testing the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 50 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosols?
Yes, hydrosols and other water-based products without thickeners are dispensed by the sprayer without problems. The bottle is clear and provides no protection from light, so store the hydrosol in it away from sunlight and preferably as a smaller supply for everyday use. Disinfect the bottle and let it dry before filling, as hydrosols are sensitive to microbial contamination.
Can the plastic bottle with a sprayer be filled with an alcohol-based fragrance or perfume?
Alcohol-based fragrances can be filled into the bottle, but we recommend testing how your specific formulation behaves with PET. Some fragrance ingredients and a higher proportion of solvents may cloud or soften the plastic over time. Leave the filled set to stand for several weeks and monitor the tightness, the appearance of the bottle and the function of the sprayer.
Why is the 50 ml bottle not filled to the brim?
The nominal volume of the bottle is the amount it is designed for under normal filling. The space above this level serves as a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled up to the neck, the contents may be pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on, and the closure seals less well.
Is the bottle and sprayer set suitable for contact with food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the plastic bottle has a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer has no such declaration. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and declarations of conformity are available with the product.
Can the sprayer also dispense oil or serum?
No, the sprayer is designed for liquids with a viscosity close to water. Oils, serums with a gel texture or thickened toners are not dispersed into a mist, they come out as a stream and the nozzle may become blocked. A bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable for oils and thicker products.
How do I clean the plastic bottle with a sprayer before reusing it?
Take the bottle and the sprayer apart, wash them in warm water with an ordinary cleaning product, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Spray clean water through the sprayer several times and then spray it empty to remove any residue of the original contents from the nozzle and tube. Do not use hot water, as PET may deform.
