Clear Plastic Bottle, Oil Pump, 50 ml

This plastic medicine bottle with treatment pump, with a nominal volume of 50 ml, is designed for clean, measured dispensing of face and body oils, oil serums and other liquid products. The pump always dispenses approximately the same dose, the contents do not spill and your hands do not touch them during use. The clear PET shows the colour of the contents and how much is left in the bottle.

The set consists of three parts: a medicine bottle, a black pump with a dip tube and a clear overcap that protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing in a bag or drawer. The plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, so it is suitable for travel, the bathroom and for sending finished products to customers.

What the set is suitable for

• Face and body oils – a measured dose helps you use exactly as much as the skin absorbs, without waste.
• Oil serums and carrier oil blends – the pump replaces the dropper where a larger dose is needed at once.
• Beard oils, hair oils and cuticle oils – the contents are dispensed with one hand directly onto the palm or fingers.
• Massage oils in smaller packaging – 50 ml is enough for a sample, a travel pack or for testing a new recipe.
• Low-viscosity liquid products – anything that flows similarly to oil passes through the tube and pump without problems.

How the pump works

The pump screws onto the bottle neck and the dip tube draws the contents from the bottom. After filling, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the tube and head fill and a full dose starts to come out. One press dispenses approximately 0.18 ml, which for a typical face oil corresponds to a few drops. More precise dispensing than with a dropper or an open neck is especially welcome with more expensive oils and with products where a small amount is recommended.

The pump is designed for oils and liquids of similar consistency. Thick balms, creams or butters will not pass through the tube or will strain the pump. With emulsions and thicker serums, check how the pump behaves with your specific formulation before you use the set for the whole batch.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is usually slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the lower part of the pump, which take up space in the bottle. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will be pushed out through the neck after the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

Light. Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Store oils prone to oxidation out of direct sunlight or fill them into the bottle only just before use.

Contact with food and cosmetics. The whole set is declared suitable for use with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact. The set with pump and overcap as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Material resistance. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, check how the packaging behaves on a single piece before you fill the whole batch.

Reuse. The bottle and the pump can be reused; the cleaning procedure is in the questions below. Oil residues in the tube will oxidise over time and smell unpleasant, so do not put cleaning off.

Closures. The set is supplied with a pump and an overcap. Other closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle plus closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking tightness, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and goes in plastic recycling. Before disposal, separate the pump and the clear overcap, as they are made of other plastics.
