Clear Plastic Bottle, Glossy Gold Black Pump with Smoky Overcap, 50 ml

A clear plastic medicine bottle with a capacity of 50 ml and a glossy black and gold pump is used for filling serums, facial oils and light emulsions that are dispensed in small amounts. The pump with a smoky overcap replaces a standard cap. The contents are dispensed straight into the palm, without scooping with fingers and without spilling, so the product stays clean throughout use.

The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and unbreakable, and the clear wall shows how much of the contents remains. The pump is made of PP and aluminium in a glossy black and gold combination, so a filled bottle looks like a finished product. The smoky overcap protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing during transport.

What the set is suitable for

• Facial serums and light fluids – a small dose per press corresponds to the usual amount applied to the face.
• Facial and body oils – the pump dispenses precisely, the oil does not spill and the neck stays clean.
• Light facial lotions and liquid emulsions – the contents must be thin enough to pass through the dip tube and the pump head.
• Samples and travel packs – the 50 ml volume and unbreakable material are suitable for travel and for testing a formulation before making a larger batch.

Thick creams and butters do not belong in this set. The pump is designed for liquid and semi-liquid contents. With a thicker emulsion, pressing becomes hard or the pump does not draw up anything at all.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is slightly larger, because space remains below the neck for the dip tube and the pump mechanism. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle pushes the contents out when the pump is screwed on and floods the seal.

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. Such a dose suits concentrated products, where a few drops are enough. When using the pump for the first time, press it several times without product until the dip tube fills and the contents start to come out. The dip tube reaches almost to the bottom, but the pump cannot draw up the very last remainder of the contents. Take this into account when calculating consumption.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Otherwise, any moisture left in the dip tube or at the bottom of the bottle will get into the product.

The clear wall does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to light, for example oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or serums with vitamin C, are better filled into amber or blue glass, or this set should be stored out of direct light. For stable serums and emulsions, transparency is rather an advantage, because both the customer and the maker can see the contents and their condition.

The declaration of suitability for use with cosmetics and for direct food contact applies to the bottle alone. The pump does not have such a declaration. The set as a whole is therefore not declared for food use and is intended for cosmetics, and how the pump behaves with a specific formulation must be verified in practice. This set is not intended for homemade oils or syrups.

For recycling, the PET bottle belongs in plastic. Unscrew the pump before discarding it, because it combines PP and aluminium.
