Product description

A plastic bottle with a spray pump in 10 ml capacity is a ready-to-use set for small quantities of thin preparations applied by spraying. It is particularly suitable for hydrolats, tonics and facial mists, refreshing sprays, alcohol-based preparations, hand sanitiser sprays, samples and travel-size packaging. The set includes a bottle and a spray pump with matching thread, so it just needs to be filled and screwed on.

The bottle is made of clear PET, making it lightweight and shatter-resistant, and the transparent material shows how much content remains. The spray pump made of white PP with a dip tube disperses the content into a fine mist that leaves no droplets on the skin. The set is intended for cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial mists and tonics – water-based and hydrolat preparations with low viscosity are applied evenly by the spray pump without finger contact with the content.
  • Alcohol-based preparations – perfume waters, refreshers or hand sanitisers based on ethanol; the fine mist evaporates quickly from the skin.
  • Samples and testers – the 10 ml volume is suitable for trying out a new formulation with customers or for small gift packaging.
  • Travel packaging – a lightweight container that fits easily into hand luggage and a handbag.

How to work with the set

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for regular filling; the total volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference provides a reserve for the spray pump dip tube and for the expansion of the content when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the content will be pushed out when the spray pump is screwed on.

The spray pump comes with a dip tube supplied at a length for different bottle heights, so before first use it should be cut with a sharp knife so that it reaches just to the bottom and is not kinked inside the bottle. After screwing on, the head must be pressed several times until the dip tube fills and the spray pump starts dispensing. One dose is approximately 0.07 ml, which is a reference value for planning consumption.

The spray pump works reliably only with thin contents. Thick oils, gels or emulsions with higher viscosity will not pass through the nozzle, or may produce a stream instead of a mist. For oil serums, we recommend testing the behaviour of the spray pump with the specific formulation in advance.

What is good to know

Before first use, both the bottle and the spray pump are washed and sanitised with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. The set can be reused if the dip tube is also thoroughly rinsed after emptying.

The transparent material does not protect the content from light. Preparations containing essential oils, plant extracts or light-sensitive vitamins should be stored in the dark or filled into this container only for short-term use. The container should be protected from heat, so preparations are filled only after they have cooled to room temperature.

The bottle alone carries a food contact certificate; the spray pump does not have such an assessment. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products and we do not recommend it for food use. Declarations of conformity for both components are provided with the product.

Undiluted essential oils and aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic over time. This set is intended for preparations in which essential oils are already incorporated at standard cosmetic dosages.

A label can be applied to the bottle. The bottle is made of PET and the spray pump of PP; before disposal, both parts should be separated and recycled as plastic. Closures with the same type of neck are available in the Handymade range; for a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dosage with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10 ml plastic bottle with spray pump suitable for hydrolat?
Yes, hydrolats and facial tonics are the most suitable type of content for this set. They are thin water-based preparations that the spray pump disperses into a fine mist. Since the bottle is transparent and does not protect from light, it is advisable to fill only a smaller quantity for a few weeks at a time and store the hydrolat stock in a dark container.
Can an oil serum be filled into the 10 ml bottle with spray pump?
Only to a limited extent. The spray pump is designed for thin liquids; light dry oils will generally pass through, but thicker oils and oil blends with butters will produce a stream or the nozzle will stop dispensing. A dropper bottle is more suitable for oil serum. If you want to use a spray pump, we recommend testing the behaviour of the specific formulation in advance.
Why is the 10 ml plastic bottle with spray pump not filled to the brim?
Because the dip tube and the spray pump assembly take up part of the space in the neck when screwed on, and the content would be pushed out. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, which is lower than the total volume up to the neck. The reserve also allows the content to expand with temperature changes without overflow.
Is the spray pump for the plastic bottle suitable for alcohol-based preparations?
Yes, ethanol-based preparations such as hand sanitiser or perfume water are among the common uses of this set. The spray pump disperses them into a fine mist, which is an advantage with alcohol-based preparations as they evaporate quickly and do not remain on the skin as droplets. However, undiluted essential oils or aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic.
Is the 10 ml bottle and spray pump set approved for food use?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The food contact certificate applies to the bottle alone; the spray pump does not have such an assessment, so the entire set is intended for cosmetic products. Both components have a declaration of conformity, which is available with the product.
How is the plastic bottle with spray pump cleaned before reuse?
The bottle is rinsed with warm water and a mild cleaning agent, the spray pump is flushed with clean water by pressing the head several times, and both parts are sanitised with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Before refilling, they must dry completely. If traces of oil or fragrance remain in the dip tube, it is better to replace the spray pump with a new one.
