Product description

Clear plastic pharmaceutical bottle, white and silver glossy pump, 10 ml

A small dispensing bottle for serums, facial oils and light emulsions that are applied in small doses and where the contents should not be opened unnecessarily. The set consists of a clear PET pharmaceutical bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml and a screw-on pump in a white and silver glossy finish. The pump dispenses the contents without touching them with your fingers, which you will appreciate especially with products containing a lower level of preservatives or products that you use repeatedly during the day.

Clear plastic shows the colour and the remaining amount of the contents, the material is light and does not break when dropped. It is therefore suitable for a handbag, for travel, for customer samples and for trying out a new recipe in a small quantity.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial and eye serums – both water-based and oil-based, with low to medium viscosity, which the pump draws up and dispenses without any problem.
  • Facial and nail oils – dispensing in small doses limits waste, and air enters the bottle less often than with a cap that is opened each time.
  • Light emulsions and fluids – liquid facial milks, light eye-area creams and spot treatments for skin imperfections.
  • Samples and testers – a volume of 10 ml is enough for a full trial dose in a finished pack.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the pump does not have one, so the set is intended for cosmetics.

How to use the pump

The pump is screwed onto the bottle, the dip tube draws up the contents from the bottom, and each press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. With a serum, one to two doses therefore correspond to a usual application on the face. After the first filling, press the pump several times without dispensing until the tube fills and the contents start to come out. The same priming is also needed after a longer period of non-use.

The pump handles liquid and slightly thicker products. Thick creams, butters and gels with high viscosity will not be drawn up, or will be dispensed unevenly. With a thicker recipe, first test the dispensing on one bottle and adjust the viscosity if necessary.

Water-based serums and toners are filled directly from the mixture; with oils and emulsions, a small funnel or a syringe without a needle will help. The bottle has a narrow neck, so it is easy to spill when filling from a larger container.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. Physically, more fits into it, up to the neck. However, this space is a reserve for the dip tube with the screwed-on pump and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If it is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on and the thread becomes sticky.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, spray the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Otherwise, residual water in the pump would get into the contents.

Good to know

PET tolerates water-based products, common vegetable oils and emulsions well. With recipes containing a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or organic solvents, check compatibility on one sample over several weeks. Watch whether the plastic turns cloudy, softens or absorbs the fragrance. Clear packaging does not protect the contents from light, so store products containing light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamin C or retinoids, in the dark or choose dark glass instead.

Once empty, the clear bottle can be washed and filled again. The pump is harder to clean: rinse it by pumping warm water through it several times, then alcohol, and leave to dry. When changing the recipe, or with a product that has dried in the pump, it is safer to use a new pump. The material is not intended for heat sterilisation or hot filling.

The bottle is made of a single type of plastic and can be recycled as PET. The pump combines several materials (PP and aluminium), so unscrew it before disposal and sort it separately.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

What products is the 10 ml plastic bottle with pump suitable for?
It is suitable for liquid and slightly thicker products: facial and eye serums, facial oils, fluids and light emulsions. The pump draws up the contents through a dip tube from the bottom and dispenses a small dose, so it suits products that are applied in drops. Thick creams and butters will not pass through it or will be dispensed unevenly.
Can the 10 ml plastic bottle with pump be used for food?
Not as a complete set. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the pump does not have one, so the set is intended for cosmetic use. If you need packaging for homemade oils or syrups, choose a bottle with a closure whose suitability for food contact is stated in its parameters.
How much does the 18/415 pump dispense with one press?
Approximately 0.14 ml. With a typical serum, one to two doses correspond to an application on the whole face, and with a cuticle oil a single press is enough. After filling, press the pump several times without dispensing so that the dip tube fills and the dispensing is even.
Is the 10 ml PET bottle suitable for serums with essential oils?
With a low content of essential oils, which is usual in facial serums, it usually is. With a higher concentration, with alcohol tinctures or with products containing solvents, we recommend testing on one bottle over several weeks. Watch whether the plastic turns cloudy or softens and whether the pump seals properly.
Does the clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through. Store products containing vitamin C, retinoids or oils prone to oxidation in the dark, in a box or in a cabinet. If the packaging is going to stand in the light, dark glass is more suitable. The advantage of clear plastic remains that you can check the colour and the remaining amount.
Can the 10 ml plastic bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, the bottle can – after washing and drying, it can be filled again. Before the first and every following filling, wash it together with the pump, spray the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. The pump is cleaned by pumping warm water and alcohol through it, but its inside cannot be cleaned completely, so we recommend a new pump when changing the recipe.
