Product description

A plastic bottle with a white and gold fine mist sprayer, 10 ml, is a ready-made set for small quantities of liquid preparations applied as a fine mist. The bottle has a medicine bottle shape and is made of PET. It is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it suits a handbag, travel or use as a sample for customers. The clear wall shows the colour and the remaining amount of content, and the glossy white and gold closure gives the small pack the look of a finished product.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

The sprayer works with thin, watery liquids. Each press releases a small dose that disperses into a mist. It is therefore suited to preparations applied over a larger area or from a distance.

  • Samples of perfumes and fragrance waters – alcohol-based compositions in a travel pack or as a tester for customers.
  • Hydrosols and facial toners – refreshing the skin during the day, spraying on before applying cream or setting mineral make-up.
  • Hair and body mists – light water-based or water-alcohol preparations without thickeners.
  • Air fresheners and room fragrances – a small pack for textiles or the car.

Oils, thick serums and emulsions will not be sprayed through this type of sprayer. They block the tube or come out in drops. A dropper or a pump with the same neck finish is more suitable for them.

How to work with the set

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, rinse them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Clean, dry packaging reduces the risk of introducing microorganisms into the product, or water, which would dilute it.

The sprayer tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting it, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors so that it ends just above the bottom. A tube that is too long bends and draws poorly, while one that is too short leaves part of the content unused.

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the content when the temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim overflows when the sprayer is screwed on.

After screwing on the sprayer, prime it by pressing it several times until the tube fills and the mist comes out evenly. When filling with a funnel or a syringe, take care with the thread. Liquid residues on the neck impair the seal.

Good to know

The clear material does not protect the content from light. Store preparations with essential oils, plant extracts or sensitive active ingredients away from direct sunlight. Alternatively, choose dark glass for them and keep this set for content that is not affected by light or for short-term use.

PET does not tolerate higher temperatures. Do not pour hot preparations into it and do not leave it in a car behind glass in summer, as the wall of the bottle may deform. For content with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, check in advance how the material of the bottle and the seal of the sprayer behave with your specific formulation. With every new recipe, also check the tightness and the evenness of dispensing.

The set is intended for cosmetic preparations. The bottle on its own has a food-contact certificate but the sprayer does not, so do not use the whole set for food purposes.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle and the sprayer can be reused. The bottle is made of PET and goes in plastic recycling. The sprayer combines polypropylene and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

You will find closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, as well as other ready-made bottle and closure combinations, in the Handymade range.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 10 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for perfume?
Yes, the set suits alcohol-based perfume compositions in a travel pack or as a sample. The sprayer disperses a thin liquid into a fine mist and the clear wall shows how much content remains. With higher concentrations of the fragrance composition, check in advance that the content does not affect the bottle or the seal.
Can oil or serum be dispensed through the sprayer?
No, the sprayer is designed for thin, watery liquids. Oil, thick serum or emulsion will not form a mist; they come out in drops and the tube may become blocked. For such content, use a dropper or a pump with the same neck finish, which you will find in the Handymade range.
Does a clear plastic bottle protect the content from light?
No, clear PET lets light through. The advantage is that you can see the colour and the remaining amount of the preparation. Store light-sensitive content, for example with essential oils or plant extracts, in the dark or choose dark glass. For short-term use and for stable preparations, clear packaging can be used without restriction.
How much liquid should I pour into the 10 ml bottle?
Fill up to the nominal volume, that is, up to the level the bottle is designed for. The difference between the nominal volume and the total volume up to the rim of the neck is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the content when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on, and liquid on the thread impairs the seal.
Can I use a plastic bottle with a sprayer for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, while the sprayer has no such declaration. If you need packaging for food use, choose a bottle with a closure that also has a food-contact certificate.
