Product description

Blue glass dims light, which makes this 10 ml glass bottle with fine mist sprayer a good fit for contents that are harmed by light: hydrosols, facial toners, perfume samples and alcohol-based herbal extracts. The small volume makes it a handy pack for travel, for testing a new formulation or for customer samples. The sprayer is included in the set, so the bottle is ready to use as soon as you fill it.

The bottle has the shape of a medicine bottle with a wider base, so it stands steadily despite its small volume. The white sprayer made of polypropylene is complemented by a clear overcap over the nozzle. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is good for

  • Hydrosols and facial toners – water-based solutions are sprayed evenly in a fine mist.
  • Perfume samples and alcohol-based fragrances – a volume of 10 ml corresponds to a standard sample. Alcohol-based contents are compatible with both glass and polypropylene.
  • Refreshing sprays and hand disinfectants – the sprayer dispenses thin liquids evenly and the bottle fits into a pocket.
  • Test batches – when developing a formulation, a small quantity is enough and you can evaluate the product directly in the target type of packaging.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the quantity the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The brimful capacity listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference is a reserve for the sprayer tube, which takes up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

If you fill to the brim, the contents are pushed out through the neck when the sprayer is fitted and part of them remains on the thread, where it may become sticky or crystallise over time. Measure out 10 ml and leave the rest of the bottle empty.

Dispensing with the sprayer

One press releases approximately 0.13 ml. A full bottle therefore gives roughly 75 doses, which is enough for several weeks of using a facial mist or for repeated testing of a fragrance sample. Before first use, prime the sprayer by pressing it a few times until the tube fills and the spray settles.

The sprayer is intended for thin liquids. Water-based solutions, hydrosols, and alcohol-based and glycerine contents with low viscosity pass through the nozzle without problems. With thicker toners containing a thickener, or with oils, the spray turns into drops or the nozzle becomes clogged. Check suitability for your specific formulation on a small quantity before filling the whole series.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. There is no need to take the sprayer apart. Simply spray clean alcohol through it and then clean water, so that no residues remain in the tube. The same procedure applies to repeated use. The glass withstands thorough cleaning and disinfection without any change in its properties.

Contents with a high proportion of essential oils or with solvents may act on the plastic parts of the sprayer over the long term. Polypropylene is resistant to common cosmetic formulations. With concentrated blends, however, check the tightness and the function of the nozzle after a few days of trial filling.

Blue glass dims light but does not block it completely. Even in this packaging, contents sensitive to light and heat should be stored away from direct sunlight.

The sprayer is not intended for hot contents. Let the water phase, toners and extracts cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the contents contract as they cool and the sprayer starts to draw in air.

The bottle has an 18 mm neck. You can find other closures with the same type of neck, as well as further ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you create your own combination, check the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

For recycling, the glass bottle belongs with glass and the sprayer, being polypropylene, with plastics. Before disposal, simply unscrew them and rinse them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue 10 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass absorbs part of the light and slows down the changes in the contents that light causes. It does not provide complete protection as opaque packaging does, so the bottle should still be stored away from direct sunlight. Hydrosols, toners and perfume samples keep better in it than in clear glass.
How much liquid fits into the 10 ml glass bottle with sprayer?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml. The brimful capacity is somewhat larger and serves as a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill to the brim, part of the contents is pushed out through the neck when the sprayer is screwed on.
Can the sprayer on the 10 ml bottle dispense oil or a thicker toner?
The sprayer is intended for thin liquids. With oils and thickened toners, the spray turns into drops or the nozzle becomes clogged. It sprays water-based solutions, hydrosols and alcohol-based contents evenly. With formulations of higher viscosity, check the function on a small quantity before filling the whole batch.
How do I clean the glass bottle with sprayer before reusing it?
Wash the bottle, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry. Spray clean alcohol through the sprayer and then clean water, to remove residues of the previous contents from the tube and nozzle. The glass withstands repeated cleaning without any change in its properties. After longer use, check the plastic parts for tightness.
Is the 10 ml glass bottle with sprayer suitable for alcohol-based perfumes and fragrances?
Yes, both the glass and the polypropylene sprayer are compatible with alcohol-based contents, and a volume of 10 ml corresponds to a standard perfume sample. The blue glass also protects the fragrance composition from light. With blends containing a high proportion of essential oils, check the function of the nozzle and the tightness of the thread after a few days.
