Product description

A glass bottle with a pump for cosmetics that need protection of the contents from light and an accurately measured amount with every use. The black glossy glass does not let light through, so serums with vitamins, facial oils or concentrates with light-sensitive active ingredients stay protected in the bottle. The set consists of a glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 30 ml and a white and gold glossy pump with a dip tube, matched to each other and ready for filling.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, but the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and light emulsions – the small volume and dispensing in small amounts suit products that are applied to the skin only sparingly.
  • Facial and hair oils – the oil is dispensed from the pump without spilling and without hands touching the contents.
  • Liquid foundation bases and tinted fluids – dark glass and a precise dose suit products that are used daily.
  • Active ingredient concentrates – when customers need to add an exactly measured amount to a cream or serum.

The pump with a dip tube draws the contents from the bottom of the bottle, so it is intended for liquid to medium-thick formulations. A thick cream or balm will not pass through the pump. We recommend testing the behaviour of more viscous emulsions before filling a larger batch.

Dispensing and handling the packaging

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. When you use the pump for the first time, press it several times until the tube fills and the pump starts dispensing a full dose. The small dose suits serums and oils, where only a few presses are applied to the face.

The pump combines plastic parts made of polypropylene with an aluminium element in a glossy white and gold finish. For contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend checking how the pump behaves with your specific formulation. The glass itself is resistant to such contents.

The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. The difference between this and the total volume serves as a reserve for the dip tube of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling, and it corresponds to the amount the manufacturer states on the product. Brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents overflow when the pump is screwed on, or part of them is pushed out through the tube.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with several presses in clean ethanol and let it drain. The glass can be reused. When you change the contents, it is worth rinsing the pump again so that residues of the previous product do not get into the new one.

Black glass protects the contents from light, but it also does not show how much product is left in the bottle. For a larger batch, it helps to mark the filling date.

We do not recommend exposing the glass to sudden changes in temperature, for example filling a hot phase into a cold bottle. Once the bottle is empty and the pump has been removed, it can be recycled as glass.

You can find other combinations of packaging and closures with the same neck type in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black 30 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, black opaque glass does not let light through and protects the contents from its effects. It is therefore suitable for serums with vitamin C, retinol or vegetable oils sensitive to oxidation. Protection from light does not replace suitable preservation or an antioxidant in the formulation, which remain the responsibility of the maker.
How many ml does the pump dispense per press?
One press of the pump dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. This small dose suits serums, oils and concentrates, which are applied to the skin in small amounts. With thicker emulsions the actual dose may be lower, so we recommend weighing it with your specific product.
Is the glass bottle with a pump suitable for food?
The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, but the pump does not have such a declaration. The bottle with a pump is intended for cosmetic products, for example serums, oils and liquid foundation bases.
How much volume can actually be filled into the bottle with a pump?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. The brimful volume is larger, and the difference serves as a reserve for the dip tube of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the contents is pushed out when the pump is screwed on.
Can the bottle with a pump be cleaned and reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be washed, disinfected and filled again. Before each filling, wash it, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Rinse the pump with several presses in clean ethanol and let it drain, so that no residues of the previous product settle in the tube.
Is the pump also suitable for facial oils?
Yes, the pump dispenses oil in small doses without spilling and without hands touching the contents. For oils with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking how the plastic parts of the pump behave with your specific blend. The glass bottle itself is resistant to oils and essential oils.
