Product description
This black glossy 15 ml glass bottle with a white and gold pump is intended for serums, face and eye concentrates and light oils that are dispensed in small amounts and should not come into contact with light. The opaque black glass protects the contents from light, and the pump delivers the same small dose with every press. It suits products that sit on a dressing table and are used daily, as well as samples and smaller batches, where you want to give the customer a finished pack without having to look for a closure.
The set is supplied as a bottle and pump together, with a matching thread. If you combine a different bottle with this closure, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
What it is suitable for
- Face serums and concentrates – water-based and oil-based serums of low to medium viscosity pass through the pump tube, and one dose corresponds to the amount needed for a single application.
- Face and eye oils – the dark glass protects oils containing unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants from light, and the pump limits contact between the contents and your hands.
- Light-sensitive active ingredients – vitamin C, retinoids or plant extracts in serums, where the opaque packaging helps to preserve the colour and effect.
- Light emulsions and fluids – primer bases, mattifying fluids or light milks for the eye and décolleté area, provided they are fluid enough for the pump.
- Gift and presentation packs – glossy black glass with a white and gold closure looks polished and suits limited editions or samples for customers.
Dispensing and using the pump
One full press of the pump delivers approximately 0.14 ml, so a full bottle gives you roughly one hundred doses. For serums and oils, where a few drops are enough for the whole face, this is just the right amount for a single use without overflowing. The pump cannot draw up thicker creams, balms and butters. Before filling, therefore, check that your formulation remains fluid after cooling and does not thicken in the cold.
Before first use, the pump needs to be primed: several presses draw the contents through the tube up to the outlet. The first doses are usually smaller until the system fills.
The pump tube is longer than the height of the bottle requires. If it bends when fitted and rests against the bottom, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors so that it ends just above the bottom. The pump will then use up almost all of the contents.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump, which take up space in the bottle. Fill up to the nominal volume. Filling up to the neck would push the contents out through the thread when the pump is screwed on.
Good to know
Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, whereas the pump does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
Black glass is opaque, so you cannot see how much of the contents remains. For serums with more expensive active ingredients, it helps to give the customer an approximate number of doses or a recommendation on how often to refill the product.
Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with clean water and let it drain; no residual moisture should remain in the tube. When refilling, check that the pump seals properly and delivers the same dose as before.
The pump combines plastic, polypropylene and aluminium. We recommend testing formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents in the packaging for several weeks and watching for any change in the scent of the contents or the strength of the plastic parts.
After thorough washing, the glass bottle can be reused or taken to separate glass collection. The pump contains several materials, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
