Product description

The glass pharmaceutical bottle with pump is used for filling facial serums, oil blends and concentrated preparations that are dispensed in small amounts. White glass is opaque and protects the contents from light, which is useful for preparations with sensitive active ingredients. The 15 ml volume is enough for samples, a travel size, or a serum that is used up within a few weeks. The set consists of the bottle and a glossy white and silver plastic pump with a dip tube, which dispenses the contents when the pump head is pressed.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial serums and toning preparations – liquid and slightly viscous water-based formulations that are applied drop by drop.
  • Oil serums and vegetable oil blends – the pump always dispenses the same amount, which makes application to the face and décolleté easier.
  • Eye area preparations and concentrates – the small dose per press corresponds to the amount normally applied with such products.
  • Samples and test batches – the volume allows you to check the stability and behaviour of a formulation before producing a larger quantity.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Neither the bottle nor the pump is approved for contact with food, so the set should not be used for oils, syrups or infusions intended for consumption.

How the pump works

When pressed, the pump head draws the contents up through the dip tube and pushes them out through the nozzle. One dose is approximately 0.14 ml. When using it for the first time, prime the pump by pressing the pump head several times until the tube fills and the pump starts to dispense evenly.

The pump dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting, it is shortened with an angled cut so that it reaches just above the bottom. The angled cut prevents the end of the tube from sticking to the bottom, which would stop it drawing up the contents.

The pump works with liquid to slightly viscous preparations. For thicker serums with a gel consistency, we recommend testing the dispensing on a small sample. If the contents are drawn up with difficulty or only intermittently, the formulation is too thick for this type of pump.

Nominal volume and brimful volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the product parameters. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dip tube and the lower part of the pump, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume, never to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the pump is screwed on and the contents get into the thread.

Good to know

The pump combines polypropylene, other plastics and aluminium. For preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend leaving a sample in the set for several weeks and checking whether the seal and the pump head remain functional and whether the scent or colour of the contents changes.

Glass withstands repeated filling and can be disinfected again. The pump is harder to rinse, so when you change the formulation we recommend fitting a new one, especially when switching from an oil-based to a water-based filling. The bottle is recycled as glass; before disposal, the pump is unscrewed and sorted separately.

Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Hot contents should be left to cool before filling, and the bottle should not be put in the freezer or placed on a hot surface.

You will find other closures with the same neck finish (stated in the parameters) and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, white glass is opaque and does not let light reach the contents. It is therefore suitable for serums and oil blends with active ingredients that lose effectiveness or change colour in light, for example those with vitamin C, retinol or unrefined oils. The disadvantage is that the amount of remaining contents cannot be seen and is estimated by weight.
How much product goes into the 15 ml glass bottle with pump?
Fill 15 ml, that is, up to the nominal volume, even though the bottle physically holds more. The remaining space below the neck is taken up by the dip tube and the body of the pump, and it also serves as a reserve for the expansion of the contents in warm conditions. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents overflow into the thread when the pump is fitted and the closure may not seal.
Can the pump be used for an oil serum as well as a water-based toner?
Yes, the pump works with both water-based and oil-based liquids, as long as they are not too thick. With oil serums it always dispenses the same dose, and with water-based preparations the advantage is that the contents do not come into contact with your fingers. For preparations with a high content of alcohol or essential oils, we recommend testing on a sample first to check how the plastic parts behave.
How do I prepare the glass bottle with pump before first use?
Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Shorten the pump dip tube with an angled cut to the height of the bottle so that it reaches just above the bottom. Rinse the pump with ethanol and leave it to dry so that no water remains in the tube, then screw it on and prime it by pressing the pump head several times until it starts to dispense.
Can the glass bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled repeatedly after washing and disinfection. The pump is harder to rinse because product residues remain in the tube and in the mechanism of the pump head. With the same type of preparation, a thorough rinse with ethanol is enough. When you change the formulation or switch between a water-based and an oil-based filling, we recommend replacing the pump with a new one so that residues of the previous product do not spoil the new filling.
