Product description

Glass bottle, frosted, with white and silver pump, 50 ml

The frosted glass bottle with pump is designed for filling with serums, facial oils, light emulsions and liquid milks, which are dispensed by pressing the pump head without unscrewing the cap. Fingers and air therefore do not come into contact with the contents to the same extent as with a jar. Through the frosted glass you can see the silhouette of the liquid level, so you can estimate the remaining amount without opening the bottle. The white and silver glossy pump head complements the light-coloured glass, which makes the set also suitable for products intended directly for sale.

The size corresponds to a typical pack of a facial serum, an eye product, a concentrated oil or a light day fluid.

How the set works

  • Pump head – one press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. This amount suits concentrated serums and oils that are applied by the drop.
  • Dip tube – draws the contents from the bottom, so the bottle does not need to be tilted during use. The tube is longer than the bottle; after fitting the pump head, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom.
  • Frosted glass – it softens light but does not block it completely. It offers only partial protection for light-sensitive contents, so store the bottle away from direct sunlight.
  • Materials – glass does not react with oils or alcohol. The pump head is made of polypropylene with an aluminium component. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check how the pump head and dip tube behave with your specific contents.

Suitable for products such as

Facial and eye serums, dry and treatment facial oils, light O/W emulsions, liquid facial milks, oil cleansers, décolleté products and hair serums for the ends. What they have in common is a liquid to slightly viscous consistency that the pump can draw up and dispense evenly.

The set is not intended for thick creams, butters and high-viscosity gels. It is also not suitable for products that are meant to be sprayed; bottles with a sprayer are intended for those.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the dip tube with the pump head and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents overflow when the pump head is screwed on.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump head, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute anhydrous contents and can weaken the preservation of an emulsion.

Good to know

The bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is included with the product. The set is not intended for contact with food, so it is not suitable for homemade oils, syrups or infusions for internal use.

Before first use, the pump needs several presses until the dip tube fills. If the pump head dispenses poorly after a while, rinse it with warm water by pressing it several times.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. When changing the contents, it is better to replace the pump head with its dip tube, as residues of the previous product are difficult to rinse out. Let a hot emulsion cool before filling, as glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. For disposal, the bottle belongs in glass waste; unscrew the pump head before discarding it and sort it as plastic.

You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The pump is not a leak-proof closure. For emulsions and serums with a water phase, store and transport the bottle upright, as the contents may leak if it is laid on its side.

Frequently asked questions

Does the frosted glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Frosted glass protects the contents from light only partially. It scatters and softens light, but it is not opaque like dark-coloured glass. For common serums and oils, this protection is sufficient when stored indoors away from a window. Fill contents with a high proportion of light-sensitive ingredients into dark glass instead.
Can a glass bottle with a pump also dispense cream?
The pump with a dip tube handles serums, oils, fluids and light O/W emulsions, but not thick creams. A thick cream or butter does not travel up the tube, and the pump head dispenses unevenly or not at all. For thicker textures, choose a jar or container.
How much does the 50 ml glass bottle with pump hold?
The bottle is filled to its nominal volume of 50 ml. Physically, the bottle has a larger volume up to the brim, but the reserve is there for the dip tube with the pump head and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If it is filled up to the neck, the contents overflow when the pump is screwed on.
Is the glass bottle with pump suitable for an oil serum?
Yes, oil serums and dry oils are typical contents for this set. Glass does not react with oil, and a dose of approximately 0.14 ml per press corresponds to the amount of facial oil that is usually applied. For a blend with a high proportion of essential oils, check how the plastic dip tube behaves with your specific contents.
How do I clean the glass bottle with pump before reusing it?
Wash the bottle in warm water with detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry with the neck facing down. Rinse the pump head with warm water by pressing it several times so that both the nozzle and the dip tube are cleaned. When changing the type of contents, for example from oil to emulsion, it is more reliable to replace the pump head.
