Product description

Glass bottle with pump dispenser, black glossy, 50 ml is a ready-to-fill set consisting of a black glass vial and a white-silver plastic pump, ready to fill without searching for a suitable closure. Opaque black glass protects the contents from light, and the pump dispenses a small, well-controlled amount with each press. The set is therefore best suited for serums, facial oils, light emulsions and liquid foundations, which are applied in small doses and need to maintain their quality for longer. The entire set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

The glossy black bottle with a light-coloured pump creates a striking contrast on the shelf, but the main reason to reach for it is practical. The contents are not exposed to light or an open neck during use, and only as much as needed is dispensed each time.

What the set offers

  • Light protection – black glass does not let light through, which benefits serums and oils with light-sensitive ingredients such as vitamin C and its derivatives, retinoids or unsaturated vegetable oils, which turn yellow more quickly in light.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the product is not removed by fingers or poured through the neck. The pump draws the contents up through a dip tube from the bottom and pushes it out, while the rest in the bottle remains sealed and less contaminated.
  • Precise small dose – one press releases a fraction of a millilitre. For concentrated serums and oils this is an advantage: you can estimate the dose by the number of presses and the product does not spill.
  • Glass that does not react with the contents – glass does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol. For more demanding formulations, simply check the behaviour of the plastic parts of the pump.
  • Matched closure and bottle – the neck of the vial and the thread of the pump fit together, so you do not need to worry about closure compatibility. Additional closures with the same neck type, listed in the product parameters, are available in the Handymade range.

Nominal and total volume

With this bottle you will encounter two volumes. Nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for during normal filling, and this is the figure stated in the name. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a margin for the dip tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upward when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Both values are listed in the product parameters.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filling all the way to the neck, inserting the dip tube pushes the contents through the thread, the pump then seals poorly and the first presses release product from the overflowed neck.

Suitable for products such as

  • facial serums – water-based and oil-based, especially those with active ingredients sensitive to light and air,
  • facial and body oils and oil blends for face massage, dispensed a few drops at a time,
  • light emulsions and fluids – liquid moisturisers, leave-on products for day and night,
  • liquid foundation and primer bases, where a small and repeatable dose matters,
  • hair serums and split-end oils with low viscosity.

The set is not intended for thick creams, butters, gels with high viscosity or products containing particles (scrubs, pigments in suspension). The dip tube draws in liquid content; a dense substance will not pass through it or will clog the pump.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Wash the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the pump and let it dry without heating; the plastic and aluminium parts are not suitable for heat sterilisation. Glass tolerates higher temperatures, but do not subject it to sudden changes, such as hot water immediately after cold storage.

First presses. A new pump needs to be primed: the first presses draw the product up through the dip tube, and only then does it begin to dispense. This is normal behaviour, not a fault.

Viscosity of the contents. The pump reliably handles water-based serums, oils and light emulsions. With a thicker emulsion, we recommend verifying before filling an entire batch that the pump dispenses it evenly and that the dose does not decrease.

Residue at the bottom. The dip tube reaches almost to the bottom, but the pump cannot draw up the last amount below its tip. With concentrated serums, it is worth removing the residue after unscrewing the pump.

Opaque bottle. The level cannot be seen through the black glass. In own production, it has proved useful to note the filling date on the label and to weigh the full bottle so you can estimate how much content remains.

Alcohol-based contents and essential oils. Glass is fully compatible with these. For products with a high proportion of alcohol or undiluted essential oils, we recommend checking the pump's behaviour after a few weeks, as the plastic seals and dip tube may change properties with such contents.

Transport. The pump is a dispensing closure, not a transport closure. Before dispatching finished products, verify the seal with the specific formulation, transport bottles upright and, for sensitive contents, provide protection against compression of the pump head.

Labelling. A light-coloured label or light-coloured print stands out on the glossy black surface.

Recycling. The glass bottle belongs in glass collection. The pump contains both plastic and aluminium; separate it from the bottle before disposing of it.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle alone has a certificate for direct contact with food; the pump does not, so do not use the set with the pump for oils, syrups or other food-grade contents.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle with pump protect the contents from light?
Yes, the black glass is opaque and does not let light reach the contents. It is therefore suitable for serums containing vitamin C, retinoids and for vegetable oils that lose quality in light. Only the glass provides light protection, not the pump. The dip tube and the inside of the pump are transparent, but they contain only a negligible amount of product.
How much product fits in the 50 ml glass bottle with pump?
The bottle is intended to be filled to the nominal volume, i.e. the volume stated in the name, not to the brim. The total volume to the neck is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the dip tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upward when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The exact values of both volumes are listed in the product parameters.
Is the glass bottle with pump suitable for thick creams?
No, the set is intended for liquid and free-flowing contents. The pump draws the product up through a dip tube from the bottom; a thick cream, butter or high-viscosity gel will not pass through it or the dose will be significantly reduced. It dispenses serums, oils, fluids and light emulsions reliably; with thicker emulsions we recommend testing the dispensing first.
Can the glass bottle with pump be reused, and how do you clean it?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused. Wash it, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Pump clean water through the dispenser several times, then alcohol, and let it dry without heating. When refilling with a different product, be aware that a trace of the previous contents and scent may remain in the dip tube and pump head.
Can I fill the glass bottle with pump with oil or alcohol-based content?
Yes, glass is compatible with oils, essential oils and alcohol without restriction. For contents with a high proportion of alcohol or undiluted essential oils, it is advisable to check the pump's behaviour after a few weeks, as it involves plastic parts with seals. Common cosmetic oils, oil-based serums and tonics with a low alcohol content are handled without problems.
Is the glass bottle with pump suitable for food use?
No, the set with the pump as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The glass bottle alone has a certificate for direct food contact; the plastic pump does not. The set is declared as suitable for cosmetics; for food use, choose a bottle with a closure that has food-contact certification.
