Product description

The 100 ml bottle with pump set is designed for serums, fluids and light emulsions that are applied in small doses without unscrewing the cap. The white PET bottle is opaque, lightweight and shatter-resistant, so it suits both the bathroom and travel. The black and gold glossy pump is completed by a smoky overcap that covers the head and protects it from dust and accidental pressing.

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. You set the dose by the number of presses, and the contents do not come into contact with fingers or air to the same extent as in an open jar. The pump handles liquid and medium-thick products that flow: serums, light emulsions, facial fluids, oils or gels.

What it is suitable for

  • Serums and fluids – the small dose per press corresponds to the amount that is commonly applied to the face or décolleté.
  • Light emulsions and milks – the pump handles them as long as they flow. Thick creams and butters are not drawn up the dip tube.
  • Oils and oil blends – the pump measures out a few drops without spilling, which suits facial or massage oils in smaller packs.
  • Samples and travel packs – the 100 ml volume and durable material suit smaller batches and recipe testing.

How the pump works

The pump draws the contents up through a dip tube from the bottom of the bottle and dispenses the same amount with every press. Before first use, press it several times without product until the dip tube fills and the pump starts to dispense. With very thick formulations the pump jams or dispenses less than it should, so check the viscosity before filling an entire batch. The smoky overcap is placed on the head from above and can be left off during normal use.

Test the consistency of the formulation on one filled bottle. If the pump draws the contents with difficulty or unevenly, adjust the viscosity of the recipe. Pressing harder will not solve the problem.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides a reserve for the pump’s dip tube, which displaces part of the contents upwards once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If you fill to the brim, the contents are pushed out when the pump is fitted.

Good to know

The bottle is made of PET, and the pump combines polypropylene (PP) and aluminium. Before first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Clean the pump by pumping through clean water and then alcohol. Let it dry with the head pressed down, so that no liquid remains in the dip tube.

The separately sold White plastic bottle, 18/410, 100 ml has a declaration of suitability for use with cosmetic products and a certificate for direct food contact. No such declaration is available for the pump, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. We recommend verifying the compatibility of the pump with your specific formulation in practice, especially for contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol. Neither the bottle nor the pump is intended for aggressive chemicals.

The food-contact certificate applies only to the bottle. The set with the pump is not approved as a whole for contact with food, so it is not suitable for homemade oils or syrups.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be refilled repeatedly. When changing the contents, flush the pump by pumping liquid through it and let it dry, so that residues of the previous product do not get into the new one. Before disposal, separate the plastic and metal pump from the PET bottle. Other closures for the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations of bottles and closures, are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml white plastic bottle with pump suitable for cream?
Only for thin creams and emulsions that flow. The pump dispenses a small dose per press and draws the contents up through a thin dip tube, so thick creams, butters or balms are not drawn up or the pump may jam. For light facial creams, fluids and body milks with lower viscosity, the dispensing is convenient and hygienic.
Why does the pump not dispense anything at first after fitting?
Because the dip tube and the pump mechanism are initially empty. After screwing the pump onto a filled bottle, press the head several times until the contents are drawn up and start to come out. The same procedure applies after the pump has been thoroughly cleaned and dried before a new filling.
Can the bottle with pump be used for food, for example homemade oil?
No, the set as a whole is not intended for food. Only the White plastic bottle, 18/410, 100 ml, sold separately, has a certificate for direct food contact. No such declaration is available for the pump, so the combination of bottle and pump is intended for cosmetic products.
How do I clean the pump before reuse?
Clean the pump by pumping through warm water and then alcohol until clean liquid comes out. Then let it dry with the head pressed down, so that no water remains in the dip tube. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely.
Is the PET bottle with pump suitable for oil serums and essential oils?
For oil serums yes, but with a higher proportion of essential oils we recommend testing the set first. Some essential oils or solvents may affect the plastic parts of the pump during prolonged contact. Before filling a larger batch, leave one bottle to stand for several weeks and check that the pump still dispenses the same amount and that the packaging still seals.
