Product description
A white plastic 100 ml bottle with a black lotion pump makes complete packaging for emulsions that are dispensed in small amounts: face and body creams, lotions, fluids, thicker serums, hand creams and liquid cleaning products. The contents are dispensed without unscrewing anything and without fingers touching the product, which simplifies hygiene during use as well as measuring a dose.
The bottle is made of PET, and the body is white and opaque, so it reduces the light reaching the contents. The black pump head complements the white bottle, and the whole set suits the simple design of homemade and small-batch cosmetics. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
Key benefits
- Dispensing by pressing – each press delivers a small, repeatable amount that corresponds to a usual dose for the face or hands.
- Hygienic use – the cream is not taken out of an open jar with the fingers, fewer impurities get into the packaging and the product is less exposed to air.
- White opaque body – it reduces light, which helps with emulsions containing vegetable oils, vitamins or extracts that lose quality faster in light.
- Lightweight and unbreakable bottle – PET withstands drops and transport, so it suits travel-size packs and sales through an e-shop.
- Volume of 100 ml – a common size for face creams, serums and smaller body lotions, and also suitable for testing a new recipe.
What it is suitable for
The lotion pump is designed for liquid to medium-thick emulsions: light and medium-rich creams, face lotions, fluids, gel creams, thicker serums, liquid soaps and cleansing emulsions. It also copes with O/W emulsions with a creamy texture that still flows when the bottle is tilted.
Very thick ointments, balms, butters and products with a high proportion of solid waxes cannot be dispensed with the pump, because the tube will not draw them up. A jar or container is more suitable for such products. It is also not suitable for scrubs with coarse particles, which would clog the valve.
The set is intended for cosmetics. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact, while the pump does not, so we do not recommend the set as a whole for food purposes.
What to know when filling
Before first use, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Moisture in the bottle would dilute the preserved product and reduce its microbiological stability.
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference provides a reserve for the tube and the pump body and for possible expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents overflow when the pump is screwed in and the tube may not draw up the product properly.
Fill the emulsion only after it has cooled. PET is not intended for hot filling, and a warm product can deform the bottle at the base or at the neck.
After screwing it on, press the pump head several times until the tube and valve fill and the cream starts to come out. Some air comes out during the first presses, which is normal. The pump is not an airless system, and air gets into the bottle with every press. The product therefore needs an effective preservative system, and an antioxidant in the case of sensitive oils.
The tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, but a thin layer of product may remain on the walls and the base once the bottle has been pumped empty. With recipes set to a thicker consistency, it is worth testing the dispensing before filling a whole batch.
With your own recipe, test how the pump behaves with the finished emulsion and leave the filled packaging standing for several days, including lying on its side. This lets you check the tightness of the closure, the drawing up of the product and whether the cream leaks during transport.
The bottle is intended for common emulsions, oils and aqueous solutions. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils or for preparations with solvents, we recommend checking the compatibility with PET and with the pump seal on a single piece before filling a larger quantity.
The bottle and the pump can be reused after washing. Rinse the pump by pumping warm water through it several times until clean water comes out, and let it dry. For recycling, separate the PET bottle from the PP pump and dispose of them according to material. You can find other closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range.
