Product description

The white plastic bottle with a white and gold glossy pump combines a white 100 ml PET bottle with a pump that dispenses a small, consistent dose with every press. It suits liquid, free-flowing products that are applied in small amounts: facial serums, light emulsions, lotions, hand fluids, liquid cleansing products or oil serums. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and the pump fits the neck of the bottle without any further adjustment.

The opaque white wall of the bottle hides the contents and limits the access of light. The bottle is therefore also suitable for formulations with more sensitive ingredients, for example vegetable oils prone to oxidation or vitamins. PET is lightweight and shatterproof, which you will appreciate when travelling, in the bathroom and when shipping finished products to customers. The glossy white and gold pump gives the set the look of a finished product without any further modification.

How the set dispenses

The pump draws the product through a dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which corresponds to the amount for a single application of a facial serum or fluid.

Before first use the pump needs to be primed, that is, pressed several times until the dip tube and the mechanism fill with the product. Every pump with a dip tube behaves this way, and it is not a defect.

The pump handles products with low to medium viscosity. Thick creams, ointments and balms will not pass through the dip tube at such a small dose, or will be dispensed unevenly. For these, choose a jar or a container.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is larger. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the pump mechanism, which takes up part of the space once screwed on, and for slight expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Therefore, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck when the pump is fitted.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial and eye serums – a small dose corresponds to the amount for a single application, and the white wall protects active ingredients from light.
  • Light emulsions and body lotions – free-flowing O/W emulsions are dispensed evenly and without hands touching the contents.
  • Oil serums and blends of vegetable oils – the pump replaces the dropper where you need more than a few drops.
  • Liquid cleansing products and micellar waters – for daily use in the bathroom, unbreakable PET is worthwhile.
  • Samples and travel sizes – the 100 ml volume and the lightweight bottle are well suited to travelling.

Good to know

Before the first filling, we recommend rinsing the bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump and likewise let it dry. Residual water in the mechanism would otherwise dilute the first doses and burden the preservative system.

The pump is not a hermetic closure. Air enters the bottle with every press, so the contents need effective preservation unless the product is an anhydrous oil product. At the same time, the contents do not come into contact with fingers, which is an advantage over a jar.

PET tolerates water-based and emulsion formulations without problems. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils, for alcohol-based products or for formulations with solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the material and of the pump seal on a sample before filling an entire batch. PET is not suitable for hot filling, so let the contents cool before filling.

Only the white PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the pump does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

The pump contains both plastic and aluminium parts. For recycling, separate it from the bottle, and sort the PET bottle separately with plastics.

After thorough cleaning, the bottle can be reused. With the pump, reuse depends on whether the mechanism can be rinsed out completely. When you change the formulation, it is safer to fit a new pump. You will find closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, as well as other ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the pump on the white 100 ml PET bottle dispense per press?
One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. This amount corresponds to a single application of a facial serum or fluid. The actual dose depends on the viscosity of the product and on whether the mechanism is fully primed, so it is worth measuring it during the first filling.
Is the white PET bottle with a pump suitable for thick creams?
No, this set is not suitable for thick creams and balms. A pump with a small dose and a thin dip tube handles only free-flowing to medium-thick products, and with a thick cream it dispenses unevenly or not at all. For thick textures, a jar, a container or a bottle with a pump designed for creams is more suitable.
Does the white plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the opaque white wall of the bottle limits the access of light to the contents. It is therefore suitable for serums with vitamins, formulations with vegetable oils prone to oxidation, or emulsions with plant extracts. The white colour does not replace protection from heat, so store the bottle away from direct sunlight.
Can the set of a white bottle with a pump be used for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the white PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the pump does not. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is used for cosmetic products.
Why is the white 100 ml PET bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, because the space above it is a reserve for the pump. Once the pump is screwed on, the dip tube and the mechanism take up part of the volume, and if the bottle were filled to the brim, the contents would overflow through the neck. The reserve also covers slight expansion of the contents with changes in temperature.
