Product description

White plastic bottle with black and gold fine mist sprayer, 100 ml

The white PET bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a glossy black and gold sprayer makes a ready-made set for your own toners, hydrolates, facial mists and hair sprays. The plastic is light and unbreakable, so the bottle suits the bathroom as well as a travel bag. The white opaque wall limits the light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with hydrolates and aqueous solutions containing more sensitive active ingredients.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle itself also has a certificate for direct contact with food, while the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrolates – the sprayer disperses watery liquids evenly over the skin. The contents are dispensed without touching them by hand, which helps keep them clean.
  • Facial and body mists – light aqueous solutions with glycerine, aloe or peptides, applied several times a day.
  • Hair sprays – herbal infusions, rinses and thin conditioning sprays with low viscosity.
  • Refreshing sprays containing alcohol – with a higher content of alcohol or essential oils, we recommend first checking how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.
  • Test batches – a volume of 100 ml is enough to try out a recipe before making a larger quantity.

How the set works

The sprayer screws onto the neck of the bottle and the tube reaches almost to the bottom, so nearly all of the contents can be used up. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml.

The sprayer works with thin liquids. It cannot dispense thicker oils, gels and emulsions evenly: the nozzle clogs or the contents come out as a jet instead of a mist. For such products, a bottle with a pump or a jar is more suitable.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times without any contents to remove residual water from the tube.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the quantity the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is somewhat larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the liquid is pushed out through the thread once the sprayer is screwed on.

Good to know

  • PET and active ingredients – essential oils in high concentrations or undiluted, as well as solvents, can damage the plastic. With such formulations, we recommend testing the packaging and watching for changes over several weeks.
  • Heat – PET deforms at higher temperatures. Fill the bottle with contents that have cooled down, and do not leave the finished product in the sun or near a heat source.
  • Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be used again after thorough washing. The plastic parts of the sprayer may retain the odour of the previous fragrance, so when changing the contents we recommend replacing the sprayer or rinsing it for longer.
  • Preserving the contents – aqueous products in this bottle need a preservative like any other aqueous formulation. The sprayer reduces contact of the contents with hands, but it does not replace a preservative.
  • Other closures – you will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the PET bottle belongs in plastic waste, while the sprayer combines PP and aluminium, so unscrew it before disposal and sort it separately.

The set with a sprayer is intended for cosmetics. If you want to use the bottle for homemade syrups or herbal infusions, combine it with a closure that is certified for contact with food. The sprayer itself does not have such a certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrolate or toner?
Yes, the set is intended precisely for thin aqueous products such as hydrolates, toners and facial mists. The sprayer distributes the contents evenly over the skin, and the white opaque bottle limits the light reaching them. As with any other packaging, aqueous contents need to be preserved, because the packaging does not replace a preservative.
Does the white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Partly, yes. White PET is opaque, so considerably less light reaches the contents than in a clear bottle. For substances that are particularly sensitive to light, dark glass remains more suitable. For ordinary toners, hydrolates and hair sprays stored out of direct sunlight, the white bottle is sufficient.
Can I pour oil or cream into this sprayer?
No, the sprayer is intended for thin aqueous liquids. It cannot disperse oils, gels and creams into a mist, the nozzle clogs and the contents come out unevenly. For oil serums, a bottle with a dropper or a pump is suitable, and for creams a jar. A very thin oil can be tried, but the result depends on the specific formulation.
Can the bottle and sprayer set be used for food?
Not the set as a whole, because the sprayer does not have a certificate for contact with food. The white PET bottle itself does have such a certificate and can be used for food with another suitable closure. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for cosmetic products, which is what the set is intended for.
How do I clean the bottle and sprayer before reusing them?
Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry. Rinse the sprayer with clean water, pressing it several times so that the water passes through both the tube and the nozzle, and finally let it dry without any contents. Do not use hot water, as PET may deform.
