Product description

The set of a white plastic bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a white cap with a tamper-evident ring is designed for filling small quantities of liquid cosmetic products and foods. The PET bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, so it is suitable for travel packs, customer samples and everyday use in the bathroom. The opaque white plastic hides the contents and limits light exposure, which you will appreciate with oils and infusions that gradually deteriorate in light.

Both the bottle and the cap are certified for direct food contact and are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The whole set can therefore be used for facial oil, hydrolate or body lotion just as well as for homemade oil, syrup or herbal infusion.

How the set works

The cap screws onto the neck of the bottle and the tamper-evident ring snaps into place when tightened. When the bottle is opened for the first time, the ring separates from the cap and stays on the neck. A customer or family member can therefore see at a glance that the bottle has not been opened yet. After opening, the cap continues to work as an ordinary screw cap, only without the tamper-evident ring.

The bottle has a narrow neck and the contents are poured or dispensed from it directly. It suits liquids that flow freely. Thicker creams and masks would pass through a narrow neck with difficulty, and a jar is more suitable for them.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial and massage oils – the narrow neck allows pouring in small amounts.
  • Hydrolates, toners and facial waters – the low weight of the packaging is suitable for travel and for sending samples.
  • Body lotions and liquid rinse-off products – as long as they are runny enough to flow through the neck without problems.
  • Homemade oils, syrups and herbal infusions – the bottle with its cap also finds a place in the kitchen and pantry.
  • Samples and gift packs – the tamper-evident ring assures the recipient that nobody has opened the contents.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled to the brim, the contents would be pushed into the thread when the cap is screwed on and the cap might not seal.

Good to know

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the bottle and the cap, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging would get into an anhydrous product and shorten its shelf life.

Pour the contents into the bottle only after they have cooled. PET deforms with heat, and a hot oil phase or freshly boiled syrup could warp the packaging.

After thorough washing and drying, the bottle can be reused. The tamper-evident ring, however, works only once. When the bottle is reused, the cap no longer shows whether the bottle has been opened, but the tightness of the thread is preserved.

Do not expose the plastic to aggressive chemicals. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing in advance on a single piece how the packaging behaves with the specific formulation.

You will find other closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations of the bottle with other closures, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with the specific contents. The bottle and the cap are made of PET and, once empty, should go in plastics recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Is the white 100 ml plastic bottle suitable for food?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap with a tamper-evident ring are certified for direct food contact, and this applies to the whole set. It is suitable for homemade oils, syrups, herbal infusions or flavoured vinegars. The contents should be liquid so that they can be poured in and out comfortably through the narrow neck.
Does the white plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Partly, yes: the opaque white plastic hides the contents and limits light exposure. For oils and infusions that gradually deteriorate in light, this is an advantage over a clear bottle. It is not a complete barrier, however, so do not store the bottle in direct sunlight.
Can the tamper-evident ring on the cap be used repeatedly?
No, the tamper-evident ring separates when the bottle is opened for the first time and stays on the neck. When closed again, the cap seals like an ordinary screw cap, only without the tamper-evident ring. If you need a secured bottle again, use a new cap with a tamper-evident ring that fits the same neck type.
How much does a bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, although physically a little more fits into it up to the brim. The reserve above the nominal volume leaves room for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. If filled to the brim, the contents would be pushed into the thread and the closure might not seal.
Is the 100 ml plastic bottle suitable for products with essential oils?
Yes, for ordinary cosmetic products with a low proportion of essential oils. With a higher concentration of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend testing in advance on a single piece how the plastic behaves with the specific formulation. The packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals.
