Product description

The white plastic bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a white and silver fine mist sprayer make a ready-to-use set for toners, hydrolates and other thin cosmetic preparations that are applied to the skin or hair by spraying. The bottle is made of PET, is light and unbreakable, so it is suitable for travel, for a handbag and for a work desk in a salon. The glossy white and silver sprayer matches the bottle in colour, and the set looks uniform without any further modification.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have one. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic use.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrolates – watery, thin preparations that are applied to the face as a fine mist without touching it with your hands.
  • Hair sprays – light leave-in solutions for easier detangling, refreshing the hair or setting a hairstyle.
  • Body and refreshing sprays – watery or mildly alcohol-based preparations for refreshing the skin during the day.
  • Disinfectant sprays for hands and tools – alcohol-based solutions used in the workshop and at home. With a higher alcohol content, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves on a sample.
  • Alcohol for spraying freshly poured soap – cold process soap makers spray alcohol onto the surface of the soap to prevent soda ash, and a 100 ml bottle is a size that is easy to hold for this purpose.

How the set dispenses

The sprayer is screwed onto the neck of the bottle, the dip tube reaches the bottom, and pressing the head draws up the liquid. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml. The mist is produced only with thin liquids. Thick oils, gels or emulsions with a higher viscosity will not spray; they come out as a stream or clog the nozzle. After filling, press the head several times without product until the dip tube fills and the sprayer starts spraying evenly.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first doses of the preparation.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is usually higher. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube of the sprayer, which displaces part of the contents after screwing on, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, the liquid overflows when the sprayer is fitted and the thread gets soiled.

Good to know

  • Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be used repeatedly. After emptying, rinse the sprayer by screwing it onto a bottle of clean water and spraying several times, then let it dry. Residues of oils or gels from the previous contents gradually clog the nozzle.
  • Hot contents – PET deforms with heat, so pour in preparations only after they have cooled to room temperature.
  • Essential oils and solvents – the plastic tolerates common watery and mildly alcohol-based cosmetic preparations. With a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing on a sample beforehand whether the bottle changes shape, turns cloudy and whether the set remains tight.
  • Closure replacement – closures with the same neck finish as stated in the bottle parameters, as well as ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and is sorted as plastic. The sprayer contains PP and aluminium, so unscrew it from the bottle before disposal.

The sprayer is not intended for thick oils or emulsions. If the preparation comes out as a stream or the nozzle jams, the contents are too viscous and a flip top closure or a pump is more suitable.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic bottle with a fine mist sprayer suitable for hydrolate or facial toner?
Yes, the set is intended precisely for watery cosmetic preparations such as hydrolates, toners and facial mists. The sprayer disperses them into a fine mist and one press releases approximately 0.14 ml, so the toner is applied economically and without touching it with your hands. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Can the set be used for food, for example for oil or vinegar in the kitchen?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the bottle itself has a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have such a certificate. Therefore, reserve the bottle and sprayer set for cosmetics, for example for toners, hydrolates or hair sprays.
How much liquid can be filled into the bottle with a sprayer?
It is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. After screwing on, the dip tube of the sprayer takes up part of the space and pushes the level higher, so a bottle filled up to the neck overflows when the sprayer is fitted and soils the thread. The reserve above the nominal volume also protects against the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Why does the sprayer not spray, or spray a stream instead of a mist?
The most common cause is contents that are too thick or a dip tube that has not been filled. After the first filling, press the head several times without product until the dip tube fills. The sprayer cannot disperse oils, gels and emulsions; they come out as a stream or clog the nozzle. If this happens with a thin preparation, rinse the nozzle with clean water and spray it through without product.
Can the bottle with a sprayer be reused, and how do I clean it?
Yes, both the bottle and the sprayer are intended for repeated filling. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Screw the sprayer onto a bottle of clean water and spray until clean water comes out of the nozzle. The whole set must be dry before refilling so that the preparation is not diluted.
Will the PET bottle withstand a preparation containing alcohol or essential oils?
Common cosmetic preparations with water and a moderate proportion of alcohol are tolerated by the PET bottle and the PP sprayer. With a high concentration of essential oils or fragrance compositions, or with pure solvents, we recommend testing a sample in the bottle for several days beforehand and checking whether the plastic turns cloudy, changes shape and whether the set remains tight.
