Product description

The amber plastic medicine bottle with a capacity of 100 ml is supplied together with a white cap with a tamper-evident ring, so after washing it is ready for filling. The PET material is lightweight and does not break if dropped. The set is approved for direct food contact as well as for use with cosmetic products, so you can fill it with facial toner, herbal tincture, body oil or homemade syrup.

The cap fits the thread of the bottle, so there is no need to look for a separate closure. After the first opening, the tamper-evident ring stays on the neck and shows that the bottle has already been opened. This is useful when selling your own products and when handing out samples.

What the set is suitable for

Toners and hydrosols – water-based contents that are dispensed into the palm or onto a cotton pad pour from the narrow neck in a thin stream without spilling.
Tinctures and extracts – the amber wall reduces the amount of light reaching the dyes and aromatic compounds in the contents.
Oil serums and body oils – the 100 ml capacity suits smaller home batches, and the amber wall also protects light-sensitive oils.
Homemade syrups and kitchen oils – both the bottle and the cap have a food contact certificate, so it applies to the whole set.
Samples and travel – the low weight and the resistance of the plastic to drops make it suitable for posting as well as for hand luggage.

Filling and capacity

The nominal capacity of 100 ml is the amount the medicine bottle is designed for in normal filling. The physical capacity up to the neck is larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the cap, for the movement of the liquid during closing and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill it up to the nominal capacity, not to the brim.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely, so that residual water in the neck does not dilute the contents.

Good to know

Temperature of the contents. PET must be protected from heat. Let hot syrups, extracts or freshly cooked emulsions cool to room temperature before filling.

Essential oils and solvents. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals. Undiluted essential oils, fragrance compositions and solvents such as acetone may attack the plastic. For these, first check the behaviour of the material on a single bottle, or use glass instead.

Reuse. After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be used again. However, the tamper-evident ring is not restored after the first opening, so use a new cap for any further sale.

Other closures. The bottle has the thread stated in the parameters. You will find closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness with your specific formulation.

Tighten the cap by hand, not with force. A stripped plastic thread seals less well and the tamper-evident ring may separate even before first use.

The bottle and the cap are made of PET and after use they are sorted as plastic.

Does the amber plastic medicine bottle protect the contents from light?

Yes, the amber colour of the wall reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, but it does not filter it out completely. For tinctures, oils and products with sensitive active ingredients, this is an advantage over a clear bottle. For longer storage, we recommend keeping the contents out of direct sunlight in any case, especially if they are unpreserved water-based products.

Is the medicine bottle and cap set suitable for food?

Yes, the bottle and the cap each have a certificate for direct food contact, so it applies to the whole set. You can use it for homemade syrups, flavoured oils or herbal extracts. It is also declared as suitable for use with cosmetic products. Before using it for food, wash the packaging thoroughly and do not use a bottle that previously held cosmetics.

What is the tamper-evident ring on the cap for?

When the bottle is opened for the first time, the tamper-evident ring separates from the cap and stays on the neck of the bottle, which shows that nobody has opened the product before. It is useful when selling your own products and when handing out samples. Once the bottle is open, the ring no longer has a function, but the cap can still be closed as usual and the bottle can be used further.

How much can be filled into a 100 ml medicine bottle?

The medicine bottle is designed to be filled up to the nominal capacity of 100 ml, although more fits in up to the rim of the neck. The free space above the surface is there for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it to the brim, the contents may overflow through the thread when closing and the cap will seal less well.

Can I fill the plastic medicine bottle with tinctures and essential oils?

You can fill the medicine bottle with alcohol tinctures and extracts, but we recommend checking the behaviour of PET at a high alcohol content on a single piece. Undiluted essential oils and fragrance compositions may attack the plastic, so glass is safer for them. The packaging usually tolerates common cosmetic products with a low proportion of essential oils, but it is still advisable to test it in the finished formulation.
