Product description
The amber plastic bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a white flip top cap is intended for liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed in small amounts: facial and body oils, serums, toners, micellar waters, cleansing milks or a travel pack of shampoo and shower gel. The amber colour of the plastic reduces light transmission and helps protect contents that are sensitive to light, for example vegetable oils and extracts with essential oils. The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and unbreakable, which you will appreciate in the bathroom and in a travel bag.
The slim body of the medicine bottle sits well in the hand, and once the lid is flipped open, the contents are dispensed in a single movement without unscrewing the cap. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The certificate for direct contact with food applies to the bottle alone; the set with the cap, as a whole, is intended for cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial and body oils – you can take a few drops through the flip top without opening the whole neck.
- Toners and micellar waters – thin water-based contents flow out smoothly.
- Cleansing milks and body milks – lighter emulsions are dispensed comfortably. For thicker, creamy textures, test the dispensing first.
- Travel packs – shampoo, conditioner or shower gel in unbreakable packaging with a volume that suits hand luggage.
- Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation, simply fill a smaller amount and observe how the product behaves in real packaging.
Dispensing and sealing
The cap is screwed onto the neck once, and from then on you work only with the flip lid. The lid is opened with the thumb and the contents flow out through the dispensing opening. The amount in one dose depends on the viscosity of the contents: oils and aqueous solutions dispense easily, thicker milks more slowly, and thick creams pass through a flip top with difficulty. If the contents are to be dispensed precisely drop by drop, test the dispensing with the finished formulation before you fill the whole batch.
You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific product, especially if it will be transported.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents may overflow after the cap is screwed on and the lid is flipped open.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the packaging could spoil anhydrous oil products or weaken the preservation of water-based formulations.
Good to know
The bottle is intended for common cosmetic bases, oils, aqueous solutions and emulsions. It must not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or with organic solvents, we recommend testing compatibility on a sample and observing it for several weeks. Protect the bottle from heat, do not dry it on a radiator and do not leave it in a car in the sun.
Hot filling is not suitable for this bottle. Let both emulsions and solutions cool to room temperature before filling.
The bottle and the cap can be used repeatedly after thorough washing and disinfection. When switching to a different product, check whether any scent or discolouration from the previous contents remains in the plastic, especially after fragranced products.
Both parts are recyclable: the bottle is made of PET, the cap of PP. Separate them before disposal so that each material goes into the correct collection.
