Product description
Plastic bottle, vial, brown, black sprayer, 100 ml is a ready-made combination of container and closure for liquid cosmetic preparations applied by spraying. Brown plastic transmits less light than clear, so contents sensitive to sunlight, such as hydrolats, tonics or facial mists, remain better protected. The sprayer fits precisely onto the bottle neck and produces a fine mist that covers skin or hair evenly without the product running off.
The bottle is made of PET, making it lightweight and shatter-resistant if dropped. It is suitable for the bathroom, handbag and travel, where a glass container would be a risk. The complete set is intended for cosmetics.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – the brown pigmentation of the plastic reduces light transmission, helping to maintain the colour and fragrance stability of preparations containing plant extracts, hydrolats or essential oils.
- Shatter-resistant and lightweight packaging – PET withstands everyday handling, a drop from a table and transport in a bag, which is especially appreciated for travel products and larger production batches.
- Even application – the sprayer disperses the liquid into a fine mist; the preparation is used economically and reaches areas that are harder to access by hand, such as the hair or the back.
- Matched neck and closure – the threads of the bottle and sprayer are designed for each other, so there is no need to worry about compatibility or the seal.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents do not come into contact with fingers during use, reducing the risk of introducing contaminants into an aqueous preparation.
What the set is suitable for
The set is intended for thin, aqueous or alcoholic liquids that the sprayer can easily draw up and disperse. Typically these include:
- facial and body tonics, hydrolats and floral waters,
- moisturising and refreshing facial mists,
- hair sprays and leave-in conditioners in liquid form,
- alcoholic hand sanitiser sprays and body refreshers,
- room and fabric fragrances on an alcohol base,
- aqueous solutions of active ingredients for home and professional care.
Thicker emulsions, gels, creamy lotions and preparations with undissolved particles are not suitable for the sprayer; the mechanism will not draw them up or will become blocked. Thin vegetable oils spray poorly and tend to produce drops rather than a mist. For oil-based serums, we recommend testing the specific formulation in the container, or choosing a different type of closure.
Nominal and total volume
With every container we distinguish between nominal volume and total volume. Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions, and this is why the set is described as a hundred-millilitre one. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer, which occupy some of the space once screwed on, and also for slight expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled container will overflow when the sprayer is fitted and will seal less effectively.
Filling and working with the sprayer
Before filling for the first time, we recommend rinsing and disinfecting both the bottle and the sprayer with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the preparation and, in aqueous formulations without adequate preservation, increases the risk of microbial contamination.
The sprayer works by drawing liquid through a dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. After filling and screwing on the sprayer, press several times until the tube fills and the mist begins to emerge evenly. This is normal on first use and does not indicate a fault with the mechanism.
When screwing on the sprayer, do not allow the tube to kink against the bottom or side of the bottle. If the mist is weak or intermittent, check that the tube reaches the bottom and is not kinked.
The neck of the vial is narrow, so a funnel is helpful when filling; for larger batches, a dosing system will speed up the work and reduce waste. If the preparation contains essential oils or a solubiliser, mix thoroughly before filling to ensure a homogeneous blend so that the sprayer draws up the same solution from the first to the last dose.
Good to know
- PET and aggressive ingredients – standard aqueous and alcoholic formulations are handled by PET without problems. A high proportion of undiluted essential oils, certain solvents or strong acids may stress the plastic over time. For non-standard formulations, a container stability test is advisable.
- Heat – PET is not intended for filling with hot contents or for heat sterilisation. Allow the preparation to cool to room temperature before filling.
- Preservation – even though the contents do not come into contact with fingers during spraying, aqueous preparations require a preservation system. The air that enters the bottle with each press is not sterile.
- Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing preparations, pump the sprayer several times with clean water and then with alcohol to remove any residue of the previous contents from the tube.
- Labelling – the straight cylindrical body of the vial allows a label to be applied all the way around.
- Other closures – other closures with the same neck type also fit this bottle; complete combinations as well as individual closures are available from Handymade. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP; unscrew them before disposal and sort each component separately by material.
The complete set is not approved for contact with food. The food-contact certification applies only to the bottle on its own; with the sprayer fitted, the assembly is intended exclusively for cosmetic and technical use.
