Product description
Glass bottle, blue, black and gold fine mist sprayer, 10 ml
Small glass bottle with a fitted fine mist sprayer for perfumes, facial mists, hydrosols and other thin liquids that are applied as a spray. The blue glass blocks part of the light, so contents that are sensitive to sunlight, such as fragrance compositions with essential oils or herbal hydrosols, are better protected than in a clear bottle. The 10 ml volume suits a sample, a travel size or a small trial batch. You can test a new formulation on your skin first and only then fill larger packaging.
The bottle has a medicine bottle shape with straight walls. The sprayer is made of plastic and aluminium, in a glossy black and gold finish that suits dark glass as well as gift packaging. It screws onto the bottle and disperses the contents into a mist when pressed. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
- Perfumes and fragrance sprays – a small volume and dark glass are a common choice for fragrance compositions, and the sprayer applies the fragrance evenly, without fingers touching the contents.
- Facial mists, toners and hydrosols – water-based products with low viscosity pass through the nozzle without problems. The small bottle holds a supply for a few days, for example for travelling or for a handbag.
- Customer samples – if you make cosmetics for sale, 10 ml is enough to try a fragrance or toner before buying the full-size pack.
- Trial batches – when fine-tuning a formulation, it is worth filling straight into the packaging in which the product will be sold. You will see how the sprayer behaves with your specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling, and that is exactly how much should go into it. The total brimful volume, that is, the physical volume up to the neck, is given in the parameters and is larger. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer, which take up part of the inner space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim would overflow when the sprayer is fitted.
Fill up to the nominal volume of 10 ml, preferably with a narrow funnel or a syringe, so that the neck stays clean and the thread seals well. Before the first fitting, check the length of the tube: it should reach the bottom but must not bend in the bottle. If it is longer, shorten it with a sharp knife using a slanted cut.
Good to know
Preparation before filling. Wash the bottle and the sprayer before first use, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Spray a few shots of alcohol through the sprayer and then air, so that no water remains in the tube, which would dilute the first dose of the contents.
Consistency of the contents. The sprayer is designed for thin liquids. Oils, thick serums and products with a gel thickener either do not spray at all or run out in a stream, and over time they clog the nozzle. Oils are better dispensed with a dropper or a pump.
Alcohol and essential oils. The plastic parts of the sprayer come into contact with the contents through the tube and the mechanism. For perfumes with a high proportion of ethanol and for compositions with a higher proportion of undiluted essential oils, we recommend filling one test piece, leaving it for several weeks and checking the seal, the function of the pump and the appearance of the contents. Only then fill the whole batch.
Glass and temperature. Before filling, let the contents cool to room temperature. A sudden change of temperature is not good for glass, and a warm liquid contracts as it cools, which would also change the fill level.
Reuse and recycling. After washing and disinfection, the glass bottle can be filled again. The sprayer can be rinsed with warm water and alcohol, but traces of fragrance usually cannot be removed completely. When you change the perfume, it is therefore worth replacing the sprayer with a new one. When disposing of the bottle, unscrew the sprayer: the glass goes into glass recycling, and the sprayer is a combination of plastic and aluminium.
You will find other closures for this bottle and other ready-made combinations of packaging with a closure in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, we recommend always checking the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation.
A sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish fits a bottle with an 18/410 neck finish, and the set fits together. When buying other closures, go by the neck finish given in the parameters of the bottle or choose a ready-made combination; do not rely on a neck diameter measured at home.
