Product description

A clear, tall plastic bottle with a smooth white screw cap with reducer is a ready-made set for thin cosmetic products dispensed drop by drop or in a thin stream. It is suitable for facial waters, tonics, micellar waters, cleansing oils, hair waters, and body or massage oils. The PET bottle is lightweight and impact-resistant, making it suitable for the bathroom and travel alike.

The set includes a polypropylene screw cap with a reducer that narrows the dispensing opening. The contents therefore do not pour out all at once but can be measured onto a cotton pad or into the palm. The nominal volume of 100 ml corresponds to standard finished-product packaging.

What the set practically offers

  • Controlled dispensing – the reducer slows the flow, so even very thin products are dispensed in small amounts without spilling.
  • Drop resistance – PET is shatter-resistant, which is an advantage in the shower, around children, and when shipping products.
  • Visible contents – the clear wall shows the colour, clarity, and any separation of the product, while also indicating how much remains.
  • Smooth white cap – the neutral appearance pairs well with any label, and the smooth surface is easy to wipe clean.
  • Slim, tall shape – the bottle sits comfortably in the hand, and the flat panel provides ample space for a label.

What products is it suitable for

The reducer is designed for thin to moderately viscous liquids. In addition to tonics and facial waters, these include hydrolats, biphasic cleansers, and light body and hair oils. Thick textures such as creams, heavy gels, and balms flow slowly or not at all through the narrowed opening. For these, a different type of closure is more suitable.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available with the product. It is not intended for contact with food. The clear packaging does not protect the contents from light, so light-sensitive formulations are better stored away from direct sunlight or should use a dark container.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling. Total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides a reserve for the reducer and cap, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the reducer will push the contents out upon closing, and the product will get into the thread and under the cap.

What is good to know before filling

Before first use, the bottle and cap are washed with lukewarm water and a small amount of detergent, rinsed thoroughly, and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. They are then left to dry completely so that residual water does not get into the product. This is particularly important for anhydrous oil-based blends.

PET does not tolerate high temperatures. The bottle should not be boiled, sterilised with hot air, or filled until the product has cooled. Hot contents can deform the wall.

PET generally tolerates water-based, oil-based, and standard alcohol cosmetic products without issue. Caution is warranted with undiluted essential oils and strong solvents, which can degrade or cloud the plastic over time. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend a test fill and monitoring the container for several weeks.

Closures with the same neck type (specified in the product parameters) and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

The dimensions needed for label design are in the product parameters. The label is applied to a dry and degreased surface, ideally before filling with oil-based products.

Frequently asked questions

What is the reducer in the cap of the 100 ml plastic bottle for?
The reducer narrows the dispensing opening of the bottle, so the contents flow slowly, drop by drop or in a thin stream. Thin products such as tonics, micellar waters, or oils can thus be precisely measured onto a cotton pad or into the palm, and will not pour out all at once if the open bottle is knocked over. The reducer is not suitable for thick creams and gels.
Is the clear plastic bottle suitable for light-sensitive products?
A clear PET bottle does not protect the contents from light. Products containing plant extracts, natural colorants, or oils prone to oxidation may change colour and scent more quickly in light. Such formulations should be stored in a cupboard or box away from direct sunlight, or a dark container should be chosen for them.
Can a product with essential oils or alcohol be filled into a PET bottle?
Yes, PET bottles generally tolerate standard cosmetic concentrations of essential oils and alcohol. However, undiluted essential oils and strong solvents can degrade, cloud, or deform the plastic over time. At higher concentrations of these ingredients, a test fill and several weeks of monitoring both the container and the contents are recommended.
How to clean the plastic bottle with cap before filling, and can it be reused?
The bottle and cap are washed with lukewarm water and detergent, rinsed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and left to dry completely. Hot water and boiling are not suitable, as PET deforms with heat. Reuse is possible if the container is undamaged, free of cloudiness, and free of residual scent from the previous contents.
Can I replace the reducer cap on the 100 ml plastic bottle with a different closure?
Yes, closures with the same neck type specified in the product parameters fit the bottle. The bottle can thus be adapted for a thicker product or a different dispensing method. With a custom combination, it is necessary to verify the seal and whether the closure dispenses reliably with the specific formulation.
