Product description
Brown glass vial with a volume of 100 ml complete with a black spray pump is a ready-to-use packaging for tonics, hydrolats, facial mists, hair sprays, air fresheners and other liquid preparations applied by fine spraying. Brown glass reduces light transmission, making it particularly suitable for light-sensitive contents – aqueous solutions with active ingredients, hydrolats or preparations with essential oils. Glass does not react with the contents and does not absorb scents, so it can be reused after washing.
The spray pump is supplied with a dip tube sized for this bottle – no trimming or adjustment required. The complete set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds food contact certification; the complete set with the spray pump is intended for cosmetic and technical use.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial tonics and hydrolats – a fine mist from the spray pump covers the skin evenly without dripping, and brown glass protects the contents from light.
- Hair sprays and water-based conditioners – suitable for thin preparations applied to the hair or scalp.
- Air fresheners and room sprays – alcohol and water compositions with fragrances, sprayed into the air or onto fabric.
- Disinfectants and alcohol-based solutions – a fine mist is practical for applying to hands, surfaces or tools.
- Samples and test batches – a 100 ml volume is sufficient for trying out a new formulation without wasting raw materials.
Volume and filling
Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed for normal filling. Brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the headspace taken up by the spray pump dip tube once screwed on, and which the contents also need when the temperature changes so they do not overflow when closed. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Exact values for both volumes can be found in the product parameters.
When filling, leave free space in the neck for the dip tube. If you fill the bottle right to the brim, screwing on the spray pump will force some of the contents out and leave the thread wet, which impairs the seal.
Using the spray pump
The spray pump works mechanically, without propellant gas. When pressed, it draws the contents up through the dip tube and disperses them as a fine mist. A single dose is small, approximately 0.14 ml, making it suitable for precise application to the face or hair, not for quickly emptying larger quantities.
Works best with aqueous and alcohol-based contents with low viscosity – hydrolats, tonics, glycerin solutions, sprays with a low thickener content. Thick gels, emulsions and regular vegetable oils will not be dispensed as a mist or will spray in a stream instead. For light oil blends or preparations with a higher solubiliser content, we recommend testing behaviour directly with your formulation – viscosity is the deciding factor, not just the ingredient type.
After the last use, a residue of the contents remains in the dip tube. If the preparation contains substances that harden on drying (extracts, sugars, salts), the nozzle may become clogged over time. Occasional rinsing with clean water helps.
Preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions or solvents may affect the plastic parts of the spray pump. With such contents, test on a small amount first to check whether the pump changes its seal integrity or appearance after a few weeks.
What is good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect if needed with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the spray pump several times with clean water and also allow to dry.
- Repeated use – the glass can be washed and reused. When changing the contents, rinse the spray pump thoroughly; if it drew up thick or sticky components, it is more reliable to replace it.
- Glass and heat – sudden temperature changes (hot contents into cold glass or vice versa) stress the glass. Fill with a cooled preparation at room temperature.
- Light and stability – brown glass reduces light transmission but does not block it completely. Store light-sensitive preparations away from direct sunlight and at a stable temperature.
- Labelling – the bottle has a smooth outer surface for applying a label; its diameter and height can be found in the product parameters.
- Closures and combinations – other closures with the same neck type and further ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying seal integrity and dosage with your specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle goes in glass recycling, the spray pump in plastics; separate them before disposal.
