Product description

A black glossy glass bottle with a capacity of 30 ml and a black sprayer forms a complete set for water-based and alcohol-based sprays that need to be protected from light. Dark glass admits minimal light to the contents, making it suitable for formulations with essential oils, plant extracts or fragrance compositions whose scent and colour can change over time with light exposure. The sprayer disperses the liquid into a fine mist and dispenses it in small amounts, making it suitable for facial mist, toner, a handbag fragrance water or an aromatic travel spray. The small volume also works well for samples and trial batches before larger production runs.

What it's suitable for

Facial mists and toners – light water-based formulations with hydrolats, glycerin or water-soluble active ingredients, applied by spraying without hand contact.
Fragrance waters and body sprays – alcohol-based preparations with fragrance compositions. Glass does not react with them and the dark packaging slows down scent changes caused by light.
Hair sprays – liquid products for refreshing a hairstyle or light smoothing, provided they do not contain thickening agents.
Aromatic sprays – pillow, room or fabric sprays in which essential oils are dissolved with a solubiliser or alcohol.

Sprayer and dosing

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which with a full bottle corresponds to over two hundred doses. This dosing suits products applied repeatedly in small amounts, such as a toner during the day or fragrance water.

The sprayer mechanism is designed for liquids with low viscosity. Water solutions, hydrolats, alcohol-based preparations and thin solubilised mixtures it disperses into a fine mist. Thicker emulsions, pure vegetable oils or gels tend to come out in a stream and may clog the nozzle. With a formulation containing a thickener or a higher oil content, we recommend testing the spraying on a small sample before filling the entire batch.

Before first use, press the sprayer several times over the sink until the tube fills and the mist begins to come out evenly. If the tube extends past the bottom of the bottle, trim it with a straight cut so that it ends just above the bottom. The contents can then be emptied almost without any residue.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume 30 ml is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total volume to the rim, stated in the specifications, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the tube and the sprayer mechanism, which after screwing on push part of the liquid level upwards, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the rim. If overfilled, the contents would leak around the thread when closing and the cap would not seal.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and leave to drip dry.
Glass and temperature – fill with cooled liquid. Hot liquid or a sudden change in temperature can damage the glass and the sprayer is not designed for hot filling.
Plastic parts and essential oils – the contents of the bottle are in contact with glass, but the tube and sprayer mechanism are made of plastic. At high concentrations of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking whether the sprayer still works the same after extended use and whether the scent changes.
Repeated use – the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. Rinse the sprayer with warm water and flush with clean water to clear residue from the nozzle. The scent of the previous contents may partly linger in the plastic parts, so a new sprayer is preferable when changing formulations.
Contact with cosmetics – both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for use with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity is available with the product.
Other closures – closures with the same neck type as stated in the specifications and further ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
Recycling – once empty, separate the sprayer from the bottle. Glass goes into glass recycling, the polypropylene sprayer goes into plastics.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The food contact certification applies to the glass bottle alone; the sprayer does not hold one. Do not use this combination for cooking oils, syrups or other food products.
