Product description

Glass bottle with black sprayer for tonics, hydrolats and facial mists

Glass bottle 100 ml with black sprayer is a complete packaging and closure set, supplied as a single item ready for filling. It is suitable wherever a liquid product is to be applied as a fine mist instead of pouring or dripping: facial tonics, hydrolats, refreshing face and hair mists, herbal waters, alcohol solutions or light hair sprays.

The clear glass reveals the contents, so the customer can see the colour and clarity of the product and the manufacturer can easily monitor how much remains in the bottle. Glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients and tolerates alcohol and water-alcohol contents well, with which some plastics change over time. The sprayer dispenses a small amount in a dispersed mist, which also helps to conserve the product.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products and both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact. The sprayer does not, therefore the set is not intended for food use.

Why choose this set

  • Fine mist instead of a stream – the sprayer distributes the liquid onto skin or hair evenly and without hand contact, which is more hygienic especially with tonics and hydrolats with weaker preservation.
  • Glass with no odour trace – the glass bottle does not absorb fragrances and does not transfer its own smell to the contents, so essential oils in a hydrolat or facial mist smell as they should.
  • Visible contents – the transparent wall allows you to check clarity, any haziness and fill level, which is useful when testing new formulations.
  • Practical volume – 100 ml is the standard size for tonics and mists for everyday use, large enough for regular use and still suitable for a bathroom shelf or cosmetic bag.
  • Black closure as contrast – the black sprayer looks uniform on the clear bottle and combines well with both dark and white labels.

Nominal and total volume

Two figures are distinguished for packaging. Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for during standard filling and which is stated on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve that must remain free for the sprayer's dip tube, for air above the liquid level and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. You will find the exact values for both volumes in the product parameters.

Filling and practical use

The sprayer works best with thin, watery liquids: hydrolats, tonics based on water and glycerin with solubilised essential oils, refreshing mists, alcohol tinctures for the skin or hair waters. The thicker the liquid, the worse it disperses and the greater the risk of a stream forming instead of a mist or the mechanism becoming clogged. Thickened tonics with gums, serums with a higher polymer content and thicker oils are not suitable for the sprayer. For these, the bottle version with a dropper or pump is more appropriate.

For oil-based contents, very light oils and oil mists can be sprayed, but we recommend testing the behaviour of the specific mixture in advance. Similarly, for solutions with a high content of ethanol or with a higher concentration of essential oils, it is advisable to verify how the plastic parts of the sprayer tolerate prolonged contact with the contents.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, let it dry completely and only then fill it. Pump the sprayer several times with clean water before fitting it to verify that the mechanism dispenses evenly, and let it dry.

After filling, tighten the sprayer firmly and make the first pumps on empty until the tube draws up the liquid. If the contents separate after sitting for a while, shake before use. With products containing an oil component, this is not a defect but a natural characteristic of a mixture without an emulsifier.

Good to know

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Hydrolats and tonics with vitamins, extracts or essential oils are sensitive to light. Keep the filled set away from direct sunlight or pack it in a cardboard box for sale. For contents that change colour or scent quickly in light, brown or blue glass is the safer choice.

Water-based products in a sprayer require preservation. The sprayer does reduce hand contact with the contents, but air is drawn into the bottle with every pump. Hydrolats and tonics without a preservative are therefore not automatically long-lasting due to the sprayer, and the preservation system must be chosen with the same care as for any other packaging.

Glass tolerates sudden temperature changes poorly. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle and do not take it straight from freezing temperatures into warm water. Fill hydrolats and tonics when cooled.

A transparent label also works well on clear glass, through which the colour of the contents can be seen.

Reuse. The glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfecting. Flush the sprayer thoroughly with clean water after the previous contents and let it dry. If it dispenses unevenly or the contents return back into the tube, the mechanism is worn and should be replaced.

Recycling. The glass bottle goes into glass recycling and the polypropylene sprayer into plastics. Disassemble the set before disposal.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of the bottle with a dropper, pump or cap are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass bottle with sprayer suitable for hydrolat?
Yes, hydrolats are among the most suitable contents for this set. They are thin, aqueous liquids that the sprayer disperses into a fine mist, and glass does not react with them or absorb their scent. However, the hydrolat must be preserved or used up within a short time. Clear glass does not protect the contents from light, so keep it away from direct sunlight or choose brown or blue glass.
Can oil be sprayed through this sprayer?
Only very light oils and oil mists. The sprayer is designed for watery liquids. Thicker oils, butters dissolved in oil and serums with polymers will not disperse into a mist, they jet out in a stream and the mechanism may clog. Before filling a larger quantity, we recommend testing the specific mixture in one set and monitoring dispensing over several days.
Why is the bottle not filled to the brim when its total volume is more than 100 ml?
Because space must remain above the liquid for the sprayer's dip tube and air. The nominal volume of 100 ml is the quantity the packaging is intended for and which is stated on the label. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will overflow when fitting the sprayer and may press against the closure when the temperature changes.
Is the glass bottle and sprayer set approved for food contact?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the plastic sprayer does not. The complete set should therefore not be used for food purposes, for example flavouring sprays or kitchen oils. Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
How to clean the sprayer before reuse?
Pump the sprayer several times with warm water, then with clean water and let it dry thoroughly with the tube pointing downward. Wash, rinse and disinfect the bottle with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. After contents with essential oils or pigments, a scent or tint may remain in the tube. In that case, it is more reliable to replace the sprayer with a new one and reuse the bottle.
