FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to use this glass bottle with spray pump repeatedly?

Yes, the bottle can be used repeatedly, provided that basic hygiene rules are observed and the packaging is not mechanically damaged. Before each new filling it is important to carefully clean the bottle and the spray pump and then disinfect them with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose you can use the products IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol and ethanol 96 denatured, available in the raw materials category on Handymade. This minimises the risk of microbial contamination and prolongs the service life and functionality of the packaging.

Is this type of packaging also suitable for more viscous preparations, or only for liquid solutions?

The spray mechanism is designed primarily for low-viscosity, well-flowing solutions such as waters, hydrolysates, alcoholic and light water-alcohol blends. Thick gels, high-viscosity oils or emulsions can significantly impair the spraying quality or lead to nozzle clogging. For a new formulation we recommend first performing a small test – checking the uniformity of spraying, the dose amount and the behaviour of the product in the packaging during several days of storage.

How should the bottle and spray pump be properly cleaned and disinfected before further use?

First we recommend disassembling the packaging – separating the glass container from the spray pump and immersing them in warm water with a suitable cleaning agent. After mechanical cleaning, all parts must be thoroughly rinsed with drinking water and left to dry completely. It is then advisable to carry out disinfection with alcohol, for example using IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 denatured of plant origin, which you will find on Handymade in the raw materials section. It is advisable to pump the alcohol through the spray pump as well, in order to clean the internal channels. After the alcohol has evaporated, the packaging is ready for new filling.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle this glass packaging if I do not want to use it further?

If you decide not to use the packaging further, the recommended procedure is to recycle it according to the type of material stated in the product parameters. The glass bottle can generally be placed, after emptying and rinsing, into a container intended for glass. The plastic spray pump (including any metal parts) should be separated from the bottle and sorted according to the local rules for collection of plastics, or mixed waste if it is not recycled separately in the given municipality. Always follow the local instructions for waste sorting and the information in the parameter table so that recycling is as effective as possible.
