Clear Plastic Bottle, Black Spray, 50 ml

This is a ready-made combination of a transparent 50 ml plastic bottle and a black sprayer, ready for immediate filling. The set addresses the most common need in producing low-viscosity liquid cosmetics: the contents need to be applied evenly and gently to the skin, hair or fabric without opening the bottle and without unnecessary contamination of the contents. It is particularly suited to facial and body mists, hydrosols, toners, hair sprays and refreshers, that is, water- and alcohol-based products that are dispensed by spraying.

The bottle is made of PET, it is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which is why it is also suitable for a handbag, travel or a child's room. The transparent material shows the colour as well as the remaining amount of the contents, which you will appreciate with hydrosols, toners and products with a coloured tint. The sprayer has a neck of the same type as the bottle, so the set seals and dispenses without additional testing of thread compatibility.

How the set works and what to watch out for with the contents

The sprayer works mechanically, without propellant. When pressed, the piston draws the liquid up through the tube and pushes it through the nozzle, where it breaks up into fine droplets. This principle works reliably with low-viscosity liquids: water, hydrosols, alcohol solutions, toners, facial mists with a lower proportion of glycerine or solubilised essential oils, water- and alcohol-based hair sprays.

Thick or oily contents are not suitable for the sprayer. Pure vegetable oils, serums with a higher proportion of gelling agents, milks or emulsions of a creamy consistency will clog the nozzle, or will run out of it in a stream instead of a mist. For such contents, caps with a pump or dropper from the Handymade range are more suitable.

Transparent PET does not protect the contents from light. Keep formulations with sensitive active ingredients (vitamin C, some plant extracts, essential oils prone to oxidation) in the dark, or consider a dark bottle. Hydrosols and toners with a functional preservation system are fine in a transparent container, just do not leave them on a sunny windowsill.

Nominal and total volume

When filling, follow the nominal volume, not the rim of the neck. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical space all the way up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the tube and body of the sprayer, which push part of the contents upward after being screwed on, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. If you fill the bottle to the brim, the contents will overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and the neck will stay wet, which worsens the seal. You will find the nominal volume in the product parameters.

What is good to know before the first filling

Before first use, wash the bottle and the sprayer with warm water and a small amount of detergent, rinse thoroughly and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Rinse the sprayer by pressing it several times in a container with alcohol and then with clean water, so that the disinfectant also reaches the tube and nozzle. Leave everything to dry completely neck down, and only then fill. Residual water in the tube would dilute the first doses of the product and, with anhydrous alcohol-based mists, could cause cloudiness.

The set is suitable for repeated use. Between refills, clean it the same way as before the first filling. Pay particular attention to the nozzle: dried residues of glycerine or plant extracts narrow it and the shape of the mist changes. A sprayer that starts to spray in a stream instead of a mist can usually just be rinsed with warm water.

For the label, use the smooth cylindrical part of the bottle body. With sprayed products, bear in mind that part of the mist lands back on the container, so we recommend labels resistant to water and alcohol, or covering them with a transparent protective film.

Both parts are made of recyclable plastics. Before putting them into sorted waste, separate them, as the bottle and the sprayer are made of different materials. The PET bottle moreover has a separate certificate of suitability for direct food contact. The set with the sprayer as a whole, however, is intended for cosmetics and is not declared for food purposes.
