Product description
The amber glass 10 ml medicine bottle with a white and gold fine mist sprayer is a ready-made set for small quantities of liquid cosmetics applied as a fine mist. Amber glass filters light and helps protect light-sensitive contents, for example hydrosols, tonics with active ingredients or alcohol-based perfumes. The sprayer with an 18 mm thread is included in the pack, so you do not need to look for a closure or test whether it fits the neck.
The 10 ml volume suits a travel size, a sample for customers or a test batch of a new formulation. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass medicine bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
What the set is suitable for
The sprayer works best with liquids that have a consistency close to water. Thick oils or emulsions will not be dispersed into an even mist, so a dropper or a pump is more suitable for them.
- Hydrosols and facial tonics – a fine mist moistens the skin evenly without your hands touching the contents, which also helps with hygiene.
- Alcohol-based perfumes and body sprays – the small volume suits a travel size or a fragrance sample, and amber glass also protects the fragrance composition from light.
- Hair and fabric sprays – light water-based or water-alcohol solutions, for example refreshing hair sprays or pillow sprays in a travel version.
- Test batches – when developing a formulation, it is enough to mix a small quantity and observe how the product behaves directly in the sprayer.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is given in the parameters. The difference between them provides room for the tube and the sprayer mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise some of the liquid will overflow when you fit the sprayer.
One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, so a full bottle lasts for several dozen applications. With thicker liquids, both the dose and the quality of the mist change, so test the sprayer with your specific formulation before filling a larger number of units.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. For the sprayer, simply rinse it with clean water or alcohol and press it a few times while empty to clear any residue from the tube and the nozzle. If the tube reaches below the bottom of the bottle, shorten it so that it ends just above the bottom. The sprayer then draws up the contents right to the end.
The sprayer combines polypropylene and aluminium. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, check the tightness and the behaviour of the mechanism in the finished formulation, as plastic and seals react differently to such ingredients.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let a hot solution cool down before filling, and do not expose the bottle to frost or a direct heat source.
The glass medicine bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection. For the sprayer, reuse depends on how well it can be rinsed. When you change the fragrance or the formulation, it is better to replace it with a new one. For recycling, glass goes with glass, while the sprayer is made of mixed materials and should be separated from the bottle.
