Product description
The white glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a black fine mist sprayer is a ready-to-use set for water-based and thin cosmetic products that are applied as a spray. White glass hides the contents and lets through less light than a clear bottle, which helps with hydrosols, toners and formulations containing light-sensitive ingredients. The sprayer is fitted directly on the neck, so you only need to fill the set and it is ready to use.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not approved for contact with food, so it is intended exclusively for cosmetics and similar products for skin, hair or textiles.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial toners and hydrosols – low-viscosity water-based products that the sprayer disperses into a fine mist, so they can be applied to the face without touching it with your hands.
- Refreshing and setting sprays – light water-based or water-glycerine blends where an even distribution of a small amount matters.
- Hair sprays and leave-in conditioner sprays – thin emulsions and water-based solutions dispensed along the whole length of the hair.
- Scented waters and body sprays – alcohol-based and water-alcohol compositions. We recommend testing how the plastic parts of the sprayer behave with a higher content of alcohol and essential oils on a trial sample.
Thicker emulsions, gels and pure oils are difficult or impossible to dispense through a mechanical sprayer. We do not recommend the set for these products; closures with a pump or dropper will serve better.
How the sprayer works
The sprayer works mechanically, without a propellant. Pressing the head draws the contents up through the tube and sprays them out through the nozzle. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which is enough to lightly moisten the face or to apply several doses to the hair without dripping. The length of the tube matches the height of the bottle, so the contents can be used up almost to the very bottom.
The sprayer is made of polypropylene (PP) and the tube is clear.
Before first use, spray clean water through the sprayer several times and let it dry. When filling for the first time, press the head repeatedly until the tube fills and the spray starts to dispense evenly.
Nominal and total capacity
The nominal capacity of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference provides room for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill only up to the nominal capacity. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the sprayer is fitted.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or ethanol and let it dry completely. Residual water or impurities would get into the product and put unnecessary strain on the preservative system. Follow the same procedure for every refill.
The glass withstands washing in hot water and disinfection with alcohol, but do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Do not pour the hot phase into a cold bottle; let it cool down first. Clean the sprayer by spraying warm water through it and then air, so that no product residues are left in the nozzle that could clog it.
For your own formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, or with a lower pH, we recommend checking the tightness, the behaviour of the nozzle and any changes to the plastic on a trial sample, ideally at both normal and elevated temperature.
The sprayer is not intended for thick and oil-based products. With unsuitable viscosity, the nozzle clogs or the product is sprayed in a stream instead of a mist.
Closures with the same neck finish as the bottle, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
At the end of its life, the bottle belongs in glass recycling and the sprayer in plastic recycling, according to the material code stated in the parameters.
