Product description
Glass bottle, vial, black sprayer, 50 ml is a ready-made set for water-based and alcohol-based preparations applied by spraying. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making it suitable for facial tonics, hydrolats, facial and hair mists, perfume waters and herbal sprays that would lose their scent or effectiveness in light. The black sprayer delivers a fine, even dose and visually matches the dark glass, so the set works as a retail-ready packaging without further modifications.
Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
Why amber glass with a sprayer
- Light protection – amber glass reduces UV radiation, which accelerates oxidation of essential oils, plant extracts and sensitive active ingredients in aqueous solutions.
- Chemical resistance of glass – glass does not react with ethanol or essential oils. It is therefore also suitable for perfume waters and alcohol tinctures, where a plastic bottle might soften or absorb the scent over time.
- Fine misting – the mechanical sprayer disperses the contents into a fine mist. Tonics and hydrolats are applied directly to the skin or hair without rubbing in by hand.
- Precise dosing – one press releases a small, repeatable amount (approximately 0.14 ml), so the product does not overflow and lasts longer.
Which products is the set suitable for
The sprayer works reliably with thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids. Suitable products include facial tonics, hydrolats, refreshing facial mists, hair sprays for detangling, alcohol-based perfume waters, herbal and aromatic room sprays, and hand sanitiser sprays with ethanol.
Less suitable are thick serums, gels and pure vegetable oils. Higher viscosity strains the mechanism, the mist turns into a stream of droplets, and the nozzle may clog. For oil-based products, we recommend a bottle with a dropper or pump instead.
If a water-based tonic contains essential oils, incorporate them into a solubiliser first. Undissolved oil droplets accumulate on the surface inside the bottle, block the nozzle, and the first dose will have a different composition from the rest of the contents.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during standard filling and what is stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the sprayer and its dip tube, which after screwing on displaces some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of the liquid with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents spill through the neck when closing and contaminate the thread, which impairs the seal.
What is worth knowing
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times without product to flush out any manufacturing residues from the mechanism.
- Shortening the dip tube – if the sprayer's dip tube extends past the bottom and bends, shorten it with a sharp knife using an angled cut so that the end just touches the bottom. The angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the bottom and allows the contents to be emptied almost without residue.
- Testing with your formulation – the sprayer is made from polypropylene, which handles standard water-based and alcohol-based preparations without issues. With a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying before a larger batch that the mechanism continues to operate smoothly and seal after a few weeks.
- Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Allow the tonic or hydrolat to cool to room temperature before filling.
- Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. After cleaning, check the sprayer. If it no longer produces a fine mist, replace it with a new one.
- Recycling – the empty glass bottle belongs in glass waste, the sprayer after separation in plastic waste.
For contents without preservation, especially hydrolats and water-based tonics, a sprayer is more advantageous than open bottles, as the contents are not touched by fingers. It does not, however, replace the need to properly preserve a water-based product.
Closures with the same thread type as stated in the specifications, and further ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosage and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.
