Product description

The white glass medicine bottle with a black fine mist sprayer and a volume of 100 ml is a ready-made set for tonics, hydrosols, facial mists and hair sprays. White glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which benefits recipes with hydrosols, plant extracts or essential oils. The sprayer disperses the contents into a fine mist, so the product is applied without touching it with your hands and in small doses. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

Facial tonics and hydrosols – thin water-based recipes applied directly to the face or to a cotton pad. The mist distributes them evenly and without dripping.
Setting and refreshing mists – light water-glycerine or water-alcohol blends for refreshing the skin during the day.
Leave-in hair sprays and conditioners – low-viscosity liquid products applied to the lengths of the hair.
Alcohol-based tonics and tinctures for the skin – with a higher content of alcohol or essential oils, we recommend checking the tightness and function of the sprayer with your specific formulation.

The sprayer is intended for liquids with a viscosity close to that of water. Thick oils, emulsions and creams do not pass through the nozzle as a mist and the set should not be used for them.

How the set is filled and dispensed

The bottle is filled to its nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The brimful volume is slightly larger, and the free space below the neck serves as a reserve for the tube and the sprayer seal and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

The sprayer tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, so almost all of the contents can be used. One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which for a full bottle corresponds to several hundred presses.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times without liquid to remove any water residue from the tube.

Good to know

Glass does not absorb fragrances or dyes, so after thorough washing the bottle can be reused. The sprayer is harder to clean. After use with essential oils or dyes, a trace of fragrance may remain in the tube and nozzle, so when you change the recipe it is better to replace it with a new one.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let the hot water phase cool to at least room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may crack.

Water-based and hydrosol recipes in a sprayer require effective preservation. The packaging prevents fingers from touching the contents directly, but the tube and nozzle remain in contact with air and the product is used up over weeks to months.

When you have finished using it, the bottle belongs in glass recycling and the sprayer made of polypropylene in plastic recycling. Unscrew the sprayer from the bottle before sorting.

Does the white medicine bottle protect the contents from light?

Yes, white glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents considerably more than clear glass. It is therefore suitable for hydrosols, extracts and recipes with essential oils, which change fragrance or colour in light. However, it does not replace cool storage or preservation, and it is advisable to verify the stability of your specific recipe.

Can this sprayer be filled with oil?

The sprayer can usually handle thin oils, but not thick oils or oils containing waxes. The nozzle is designed for liquids with a viscosity close to that of water, and with thicker contents it dispenses unevenly or becomes clogged. For body and massage oils, we recommend a bottle with a pump or a dropper.

Why is the bottle not filled to the brim?

The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 100 ml, and the brimful volume is slightly larger. The free space below the neck is a reserve for the tube and the sprayer seal and for the expansion of the contents during warmer storage. If you filled it to the neck, part of the contents would spill out when the sprayer is screwed on.

Is the set suitable for alcohol-based tonics?

Yes, glass is non-reactive to alcohol and the set is commonly used for alcohol-based tonics. With a higher content of alcohol or essential oils, we recommend leaving the first batch in the packaging for several days and checking the tightness and function of the sprayer, because the behaviour depends on the specific recipe.

How do I clean the medicine bottle and sprayer for repeated use?

Wash the bottle in warm water with detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with alcohol and leave it to dry with the neck facing down. Rinse the sprayer with alcohol, then pump clean water through it and leave it to dry. If fragrance or colour from the previous contents remains in the tube, use a new sprayer.

Is the set approved for contact with food?

No, neither the bottle nor the sprayer has a food-contact certificate, and the set is intended for cosmetic products. Suitability for contact with cosmetics is declared for both components, and Handymade issues an EU declaration of conformity for the packaging.
