Product description

The 100 ml glass spray bottle is a ready-made bottle and closure set for thin, watery cosmetic preparations applied by spraying. The base is a clear glass bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml, fitted with a black plastic sprayer with a long tube. The clear glass lets you see the contents, so it is especially suited to hydrosols, facial toners, mists and hair sprays that you want to keep in view and dispense as a fine spray instead of pouring.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has certification for direct food contact, but the sprayer does not, which is why the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What this set gives you

  • Fine dispensing – the sprayer breaks the contents into tiny droplets, so a toner or hydrosol is applied evenly and without waste.
  • Odourless glass with no substance transfer – the glass bottle does not absorb the scent or colour of the contents and can be washed repeatedly, which you will appreciate with hydrosols and toners.
  • Transparent packaging – you can see both the amount and the clarity of the contents, spotting any cloudiness or sediment immediately.
  • Long tube – it reaches all the way to the bottom of the bottle, so the contents are dispensed down to the last millilitres even at a slight tilt.
  • Ready-made combination – the bottle and sprayer are matched to the same neck, so you do not have to worry about closure compatibility.

What products it suits

The set is intended for thin, watery preparations that the sprayer can atomise. In practice this mainly means facial toners and hydrosols, refreshing facial and body mists, hair sprays and leave-in conditioners, thermal or herbal waters, and light alcohol-based sprays for cosmetic use. The 100 ml volume is practical both on the vanity and in a handbag.

Conversely, oils, thicker serums, gels and emulsions do not belong in this set. For oils and creams, a bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for under normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides a reserve for the tube and the sprayer mechanism and for slight expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the tube will push some of the contents out when screwed on and the sprayer may not seal properly.

When filling, leave a few millimetres of free space in the neck. As the sprayer tube is screwed in, it displaces both air and liquid that would otherwise overflow across the thread.

Good to know

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Hydrosols, preparations with essential oils or with sensitive active ingredients should therefore be stored out of direct sunlight or in a cabinet. If you need to protect the contents from light over the long term, choose amber or blue glass instead.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, or disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and prime it several times into the air. The glass can be washed in warm water, but do not expose the sprayer to high temperatures or boil it.

The sprayer is made of polypropylene, which is resistant to watery and mildly alcoholic contents. For preparations with a higher alcohol content or a larger amount of essential oils, we recommend checking after a few weeks that the mechanism still dispenses consistently, does not stiffen and does not leak.

With repeated use, always rinse both the bottle and the sprayer thoroughly and let them dry. The sprayer loses dosing accuracy with wear over time; simply replace it with a new one that has the same neck. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

A label sticks well to the cylindrical bottle. The glass goes in glass recycling, the sprayer is plastic, and you should separate it from the bottle before recycling.

The glass spray bottle is not suitable for oils or thicker serums. The sprayer will not atomise a thick content, it produces a stream instead of a mist and the mechanism may become clogged.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass spray bottle suitable for hydrosol?
Yes, hydrosol is a typical content for this set. It is a thin, watery liquid that the sprayer atomises well into a fine mist. Since the glass is transparent, store the hydrosol out of direct light. Like any water-based preparation, preserve it or use it up within a short time.
Can oil be filled into the glass spray bottle?
No, this sprayer is not suitable for oils. Oil has a higher viscosity, the sprayer will not atomise it into a mist, it squirts it out in a stream and the mechanism may become clogged. For oils, the same bottle with a dropper or a pump is suitable, which you can find in the Handymade range.
How much liquid fits into the 100 ml spray bottle?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The total brim-full volume is somewhat larger, but this reserve is taken up by the tube with the sprayer mechanism and the air above the liquid. If overfilled, some of the contents will overflow across the thread when the sprayer is screwed on.
Is the bottle-and-sprayer set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle on its own has certification for direct food contact, but the plastic sprayer does not. If you want to use the bottle for a food purpose, combine it with a closure that has its own food-grade certification.
How is the glass spray bottle cleaned before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning agent, or disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and prime it several times so that the tube and the nozzle are cleaned. Do not boil the sprayer or wash it in the dishwasher; high temperatures damage it.
Can I put an alcohol-based spray or perfume water into the spray bottle?
Yes, the sprayer atomises thin alcohol-based contents without any problems. Polypropylene is fairly resistant to alcohol. However, with preparations that have a high alcohol content or a larger amount of essential oils, check after a few weeks that the sprayer still dispenses consistently and does not leak. Store a perfume composition in clear glass in the dark.
