Product description

A plastic bottle, a vial with a black sprayer and a black cap, 30 ml is a complete set for spray cosmetic preparations in small packaging. The brown PET bottle and the black sprayer with cap share the same thread, so you do not need to order them separately. The brown colour reduces light transmission, making the set particularly suitable for contents with botanical ingredients, essential oils or active substances that lose efficacy when exposed to light. Plastic is lightweight and shatterproof, which you will appreciate for travel sizes, samples and products that customers carry in a handbag.

A volume of 30 ml corresponds to face and body sprays, refreshing mists, hydrolat-based tonics, spray deodorants or perfumed waters in travel size. The complete set is intended for cosmetics.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – brown PET lets through less light than clear plastic, slowing the degradation of sensitive ingredients such as essential oils, botanical extracts or vitamins in tonics and mists.
  • Fine spray dose per press – the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml of content per press in the form of a mist, allowing precise and economical application to the skin, hair or body.
  • Dip tube reaching the bottom – the tube reaches to the bottom of the bottle, so the contents can be used up almost entirely without tilting.
  • Lightweight and shatterproof – the PET bottle with plastic sprayer weighs little and withstands a drop, which you will appreciate when shipping and travelling.
  • Black cap – covers the nozzle, protecting it from contamination and accidental pressing in a bag.

What the set is suitable for

The sprayer works reliably with thin, liquid contents: hydrolats and floral waters, facial tonics, hair sprays and mists, refreshing body sprays, spray deodorants, perfumed waters with a lower alcohol content, hand and foot preparations in travel size, or water sprays for indoor use. At 30 ml, this is also a practical format for samples and testers that you include with orders or offer at the point of sale.

Conversely, it is not suitable for thick, gel-like or oily contents. Oils and emulsions with higher viscosity cannot be atomised into a mist by a mechanical sprayer — the nozzle clogs and the contents come out in a stream or not at all. For pure oil-based serums, opt for a bottle with a dropper or pump instead.

For sprays containing essential oils in the water phase, use a suitable solubiliser to prevent the oil from separating and clogging the nozzle. We recommend shaking the bottle before each use.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions. The total capacity up to the brim is greater, because the bottle has a reserve above the nominal level for the dip tube and the sprayer body, which occupy some space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. It should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not up to the neck. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the thread once the sprayer is screwed on.

The bottle has a narrow-necked thread, so it is filled using a funnel, syringe or dispensing bottle. After filling, the sprayer is screwed on and the dip tube is primed with a few pumps so that it works from the very first use.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – we recommend rinsing the bottle and sprayer, sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Blow through the dip tube and nozzle to ensure no water remains.
  • Aqueous contents require preservation – with each press the sprayer draws air into the bottle, so hydrolats, tonics and sprays without a preservative are quickly subject to microbial contamination in this packaging. The aqueous phase must contain an effective preservative.
  • Compatibility of contents with PET – PET tolerates aqueous and alcoholic contents common in cosmetics. For preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, solvents or aggressive raw materials, we recommend checking the behaviour of the packaging in advance, as the plastic may soften, become cloudy or absorb the fragrance.
  • Heat – fill the contents when cooled; hot liquid deforms PET. Do not leave filled packaging in the sun or in a hot car.
  • Reuse – the bottle and sprayer can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. If the sprayer no longer sprays evenly after washing, the nozzle is clogged or the valve is damaged and must be replaced.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of PP. After the contents have been used up, separate the components and sort them into plastics.
  • Food contact – the food-contact certificate applies to the bottle alone; the sprayer does not have one. The complete set is therefore intended for cosmetics.

Protect the filled packaging from heat and direct sunlight and do not expose it to aggressive chemicals. For perfumes with a high ethanol content, verify the tightness of the thread and the stability of the packaging with a multi-day test.

Custom combinations of closures and sprayers with the same thread type as specified in the parameters, and further ready-made sets, are available in the Handymade range. When creating a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosage and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 30 ml plastic bottle with sprayer suitable for an oil serum?
No, a mechanical sprayer is designed for thin aqueous and alcoholic contents. Vegetable oils and oil serums are too thick to be atomised into a mist — the nozzle will not disperse them evenly and the contents come out unevenly or the sprayer becomes clogged. For oily products, a bottle with a dropper or pump is more suitable.
Does the brown PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the brown colouring of the plastic reduces light transmission and thus slows the degradation of sensitive ingredients. It is therefore suitable for tonics and mists containing hydrolats, botanical extracts, vitamins and essential oils. However, it does not provide complete light protection, so do not store filled packaging in direct sunlight.
How full should the 30 ml plastic bottle with sprayer be filled?
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not up to the rim of the neck. The space above this level is taken up by the dip tube and the sprayer body once screwed on, and also serves as a reserve for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If overfilled, some of the contents will overflow through the thread when the sprayer is attached.
Can the 30 ml plastic bottle be filled with perfumed water containing alcohol?
Yes, PET tolerates alcoholic cosmetic contents and the sprayer atomises them well. For perfumes with a high ethanol and fragrance composition content, we recommend testing the tightness of the thread in advance and monitoring whether the plastic softens or absorbs the fragrance. Do not leave the filled bottle in the heat.
Can I use the plastic bottle with sprayer for food liquids?
No, the complete set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The food-contact certificate applies only to the brown PET bottle alone; the sprayer does not carry such a declaration. The complete set is therefore intended for cosmetics, for example tonics, mists, sprays or deodorants.
How do I clean the sprayer if it stops spraying?
Flush the sprayer several times with warm water and then with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol to dissolve deposits in the dip tube and nozzle. The most common cause is dried-out content with extracts or undissolved essential oil. If it still does not spray evenly after cleaning, the valve is damaged and the sprayer must be replaced.
