Product description
White plastic 10 ml bottle with black flip-top cap is a complete small packaging solution for samples, travel sizes and small production runs of liquid to medium-viscosity cosmetic products. The cap opens by flipping up and the contents come out through a small dispensing opening, so the bottle does not need to be unscrewed with each use.
The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that will not shatter when dropped and adds minimal weight to packaging or a cosmetics bag. The white finish limits light exposure to the contents, which is an advantage for oils, serums with sensitive active ingredients and fragrance blends where light reduces stability. The black cap gives the packaging a contrasting look and pairs well with a simple label. The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial, hair and nail oils – the oily contents are dispensed drop by drop from the bottle, which at 10 ml is enough for several weeks of use or as a sample with an order.
- Light serums and liquid gels – the dispensing opening of the cap releases a small amount at a time, so the product does not spill and is not over-dispensed.
- Samples and testers – the small volume and resealable cap allow sending demonstrations of your own formulations to customers or taking the product for testing without the risk of leaking.
- Oil perfumes and fragrance blends in carrier oil – diluted fragrance compositions are applied from the bottle directly to the wrist or neck.
- Travel sizes of cleansing and disinfecting solutions – the bottle can hold both water-based and alcohol-based contents, and the flip-top cap can be operated with one hand in a bag.
How the complete set dispenses and how it is filled
The flip-top cap is flipped open with the thumb and pressed back after use until it clicks into place. Liquid contents flow out by tilting the bottle; for thicker contents, gentle pressure on the sides helps. The PET bottle is more rigid than soft plastics, so thick creams or balms are difficult to dispense through the small opening. The set is therefore best suited for liquid to medium-viscosity textures. For very thin water-based contents, before filling the entire production run, check how quickly they flow from the opening and whether the bottle does not open when turned upside down in a bag.
When filling, follow the nominal volume, not the volume to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity the packaging is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume up to the neck is greater, and the difference between them is the allowance for the cap, the air space above the liquid, and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will be pushed through the opening when the cap is fitted and the neck will become contaminated.
The bottle neck is narrow, so the contents are most conveniently filled using a small funnel or a needle-free syringe. Fill only to the nominal volume so that a reserve remains under the cap.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would dilute the contents and in oils or anhydrous products can cause cloudiness or microbial growth. The same procedure applies when reusing.
Contents must always be filled into PET cooled to room temperature. A hot oil phase or still-warm gel can deform the bottle wall. The bottle handles water, alcohol and vegetable oils well. However, undiluted essential oils and aggressive solvents can degrade the plastic over time, especially with prolonged contact with the wall and cap. With such contents, test one filled bottle and after several weeks check the shape, clarity of the plastic and the seal.
The set is not intended for undiluted essential oils or aggressive solvents. Fill fragrance blends diluted in a carrier oil or alcohol, and verify the packaging behaviour on a sample.
The food-contact compliance certificate applies to the bottle individually. The flip-top cap does not have this certification, so the complete set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. If you need packaging for food use, choose a closure for the bottle that has food-contact suitability listed in its parameters.
Closures with the same neck type, which you will find in the parameters, fit the bottle, and ready-made combinations of bottle and closure are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, verify the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene; once used up, both belong in sorted plastic waste.
