Product description

A brown plastic medicine bottle with a black flip top cap is a ready-made set for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic preparations dispensed by squeezing the bottle. Suitable for tonics, micellar waters, cleansing emulsions, shampoos and shower gels in smaller packaging, body lotions, massage and facial oils. The brown plastic reduces light transmission, protecting light-sensitive contents such as vegetable oils and preparations with extracts. PET is lightweight and unbreakable, making it practical for the bathroom, travel, and shipping products to customers.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle alone has a certificate for direct contact with food. The complete set — bottle with cap — is intended for cosmetic products.

Why choose this set

  • Protection of contents from light – the brown colouring reduces light penetration, helping to slow down changes in colour, scent and efficacy of sensitive ingredients, particularly oils and active substances.
  • Convenient dispensing – the flip top opens with one finger and contents are dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle, no unscrewing or searching required.
  • Low weight and durability – PET does not crack when dropped, the bottle withstands the shower, a travel toiletry bag and shipping in a parcel.
  • A matched pair – the bottle and cap share the same neck type, no need to select the closure separately.

How to work with the set

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of contents when temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise the contents will be pushed out when closing and seep into the thread.

The flip top dispenses preparations with a liquid to medium-viscosity consistency best. Very thin, water-like contents flow out faster than is comfortable for dispensing. Thick creams and butters, on the other hand, will not pass through the cap opening. It is advisable to test the consistency on a single unit before filling the entire batch. A narrow neck is best filled using a funnel or from a dispensing bottle to keep the thread clean and ensure the cap seats properly.

Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in the container is a common cause of early spoilage of both water-based and oil-based preparations.

Good to know

PET is not suitable for hot filling. Allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling, as heat causes the plastic to deform and change the shape of the bottle. PET tolerates aqueous, alcoholic and oil-based preparations at standard concentrations. However, concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and solvents place prolonged stress on the plastic. For such contents, we recommend verifying the container's behaviour with the specific formulation before using it for an entire batch.

The tightness of the flip top cap depends on the consistency of the contents and how firmly the cap is tightened. With thin preparations and before transportation, lay the bottle on its side and turn it upside down to verify that nothing leaks through the opening.

The set can be used repeatedly. After emptying, wash both the bottle and cap, disinfect and allow to dry. Labels adhere well to the cylindrical shape of the bottle. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; separate them before disposal, as both belong in sorted plastic waste.

If you want to combine the bottle with a different closure, closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, we recommend verifying the tightness, dispensing performance and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown plastic medicine bottle protect contents from light?
Yes, the brown colouring of the PET reduces light penetration into the container and helps slow down light-induced changes in the contents. It is not a complete barrier as with an opaque container. Sensitive preparations — for example, oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or vitamin-based preparations — should therefore still be stored away from direct sunlight.
Do you fill the 100 ml plastic bottle to the brim?
No, fill to the nominal volume — that is 100 ml — not right up to the neck. The space above this level is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of contents when temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will be pushed out when closing, seep into the thread and cause the cap to seal poorly.
Is the bottle and flip top cap set suitable for oils?
Yes, the set is suitable for massage and facial oils and oil serums dispensed by squeezing the bottle. The brown plastic also helps protect the oil from light. For oils with a high proportion of essential oils or fragrance compositions, we recommend checking in advance whether the contents place prolonged stress on the plastic of the bottle and cap.
Is the plastic medicine bottle with flip top cap set suitable for food?
No, the complete set is not declared for contact with food; it is intended for cosmetics. The food-contact certificate applies only to the bottle on its own; the flip top cap does not have this certificate. If you need packaging for food use, choose a combination where all components have the relevant certificate.
Can I pour hot emulsion into the plastic medicine bottle?
No, the PET bottle is not designed for filling with hot contents and will deform under heat. Allow emulsions, gels and solutions to cool to room temperature before filling. This also applies to the cap, which should only be attached to cooled contents to prevent a vacuum from forming inside the container and the bottle wall from being drawn inward.
Can the plastic bottle with flip top cap be reused?
Yes, after thorough washing, disinfection with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and complete drying, both the bottle and cap can be refilled. When reusing, check the cap hinge and the seal in the thread. If the cap opens by itself after closing or contents leak through the opening, replace it with a new one.
