Product description

This amber square glass bottle with a volume of 30 ml and a nasal sprayer is a ready-made set for filling with water-based preparations that are applied in small, always identical doses. The dark glass protects the contents from light, the square shape stays steady on a shelf and in a bag, and the sprayer with a longer applicator disperses the liquid into a mist exactly where you aim it. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suited for

The sprayer is designed for thin, water-based liquids without thickeners. It works best with hydrosols, saline and aqueous solutions, light toners and refreshing sprays, where precise quantity and targeted application matter. Thicker serums, emulsions and oils pass through the narrow nozzle with difficulty or not at all, and the mechanism quickly becomes clogged with them. We recommend testing the behaviour with your specific formulation on a small amount before filling a whole batch.

The declaration of suitability applies to cosmetic products. If you plan to use the set for another type of preparation, check the requirements that apply to it separately. The set is not approved for contact with food.

How the sprayer works

The pump has a fixed dose of 0.12 ml per press. The amount applied therefore does not depend on how hard you press or at what angle you hold the bottle. When full, this corresponds to approximately 250 doses. The dip tube may not draw up the last millilitres at the bottom. The pump draws the contents through a dip tube reaching to the bottom, the applicator has an extended narrow shape, and a clear overcap covers it, protecting the nozzle from dust and accidental presses.

A new sprayer is unprimed. After screwing it on, press it several times over a sink until the tube and chamber fill and it starts spraying evenly.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and sprayer, which raise the liquid level once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the liquid leaks through the thread after closing or the pump draws in air and the first doses will be uneven.

Preparation and filling

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the sprayer with clean water or diluted alcohol and pump it empty so that no liquid remains in the tube. The neck is relatively narrow, so it is worth using a funnel or syringe when filling.

The dip tube of the sprayer may be longer than the height of this bottle requires. If it bends at the bottom after screwing on, shorten it with a sharp cut so that it ends just above the bottom and does not prevent the closure from being tightened.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Let hot contents cool before filling, and do not pour warm liquid into a bottle taken out of the fridge.

Good to know

  • Light protection – amber glass reduces the amount of light that passes through, which helps with hydrosols and solutions containing light-sensitive substances. However, it does not replace a preservative system, as water-based preparations need preservation regardless of the packaging.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle withstands repeated washing and disinfection. The pump is harder to clean, so when changing the contents, rinse it thoroughly by pumping clean water through it, and replace it if there are residues of dried contents.
  • Neck and other closures – the bottle has a standard neck with an 18 mm thread. You can find other closures with the same neck type and further ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Salts and crystallisation – saline solutions may leave small crystals in the nozzle after drying, which reduce the dose or distort the spray pattern. After use, simply wipe the nozzle and put the overcap on.
  • Recycling – the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The sprayer is made of several plastics and a steel spring, so unscrew it from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

What liquids can be filled into a 30 ml nasal sprayer?
Thin, water-based liquids are suitable, that is hydrosols, saline and aqueous solutions, light toners and refreshing sprays. A pump with a narrow nozzle does not cope with thick serums, emulsions or oils, which clog it or come out as a stream instead of a mist. For formulations with glycerine or alcohol, we recommend testing the spray first.
How many ml does the nasal sprayer dispense per press?
The sprayer releases 0.12 ml with every press. The amount is determined by the design of the pump, not by the force of the press, so it stays the same throughout use. From a bottle filled up to the nominal volume, you therefore get approximately 250 doses.
Why is the square 30 ml glass bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml because, once the sprayer is screwed on, the dip tube and pump take up part of the inner space and the liquid level rises. The total brim-full volume is larger and also serves as a reserve for the contents to expand when warm. An overfilled bottle leaks through the thread and the pump sprays unevenly.
Is the nasal sprayer in an amber glass bottle suitable for food?
No, this set is not approved for contact with food. It is declared for use with cosmetic products, which applies to both the glass bottle and the sprayer. For homemade oils, syrups or infusions, choose packaging with a food-contact certificate.
Can the glass bottle with the nasal sprayer be reused?
Yes, after washing and disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, the glass bottle can be filled again. Before a new filling, pump clean water through the sprayer several times and let it dry. If salt crystals or dried contents remain in it and the spray is no longer even, replace the pump with a new one.
Why does a new nasal sprayer not spray on the first press?
A new pump is unprimed and the tube is full of air. Simply press it several times in a row until the chamber fills with liquid and the spray starts to come out as an even mist. Repeat the same procedure every time you refill the bottle or clean the sprayer.
