Product description

Introduction

Glass bottle, vial, nasal spray, 50 ml is a ready-made set consisting of an amber glass bottle fitted with a dispenser that releases a small, always identical dose of the contents in a fine mist with each press. It is suitable for water-based preparations in small volumes where precise dosing and protection from light matter: hydrosols, refreshing toners, aromatic mists, herbal infusions or other thin formulations applied drop by drop.

The amber glass dampens light and thus protects the sensitive contents. The dispenser with a narrow applicator head is shaped so that the contents can be applied in a targeted way without spilling.

Why choose this set

  • Protection from light – amber glass lets through considerably less light than clear glass, which helps maintain the stability of the colour, scent and active substances of the contents.
  • Measured dose – the dispenser mechanism releases the same amount with each press, so dosing is repeatable and the contents are not used up at random.
  • Fine mist – the contents are dispersed into tiny droplets, which is an advantage for refreshing and moisturising preparations applied to a small area.
  • Odour-free glass – glass does not absorb scents or dyes and can be washed and disinfected repeatedly.
  • Closed system – the tube reaches to the bottom of the bottle and the contents come out only through the head, so you do not touch the refill with your fingers during use.

Nominal and total volume

For every container we state two volumes. The nominal volume is the amount the container is intended for under normal filling, and it is precisely by this that the bottle is labelled as a fifty-millilitre one. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume all the way up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the immersed part of the dispenser and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume, never to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the dispenser is fitted.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the dispenser with clean water by pressing it several times and let it dry as well.

Filling and assembly

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume and screw the dispenser onto the neck. The tube is intentionally longer than the height of the bottle so that it reaches all the way to the bottom; when fitted it bends slightly at the bottom, which is fine. If the bend interferes with suction, you can trim the tube so that it only just touches the bottom.

Before first use, press the dispenser empty several times until the tube fills and the mechanism starts to dispense. After the last dose, a small residue of the contents remains in the tube and at the bottom of the bottle, which the dispenser can no longer draw up. Take this into account when calculating the number of doses per refill.

Suitable for contents such as

  • Hydrosols and floral waters – refreshing and moisturising mists for sensitive areas, where a fine mist is an advantage.
  • Water-based toners and infusions – low-viscosity solutions without particles that pass easily through the narrow tube and nozzle.
  • Aromatic and scented mists – water-alcohol preparations in small volumes, where glass holds the scent without any foreign odour.
  • Samples and travel packs – a small volume and measured dosing are ideal for testing a formulation or for packing for travel.

The dispenser is intended for thin, water-based contents. Thick serums, emulsions and oils will not pass through the narrow nozzle or will clog it. For contents with a higher proportion of alcohol, essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying in advance how the plastic and metal parts of the dispenser behave directly with your formulation. Closures with the same type of neck and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range; with your own combination, verify the tightness, dosing and behaviour of the container with the specific contents.

Good to know

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Certification for direct contact with food is held by the glass bottle on its own; the dispenser does not have such certification, which is why the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The relevant declarations of conformity and documents are attached to the product.

The set is not intended for food. If you want to use the bottle for homemade food preparations, combine it with a closure that has certification for food contact on its own.

Glass is sensitive to sudden changes in temperature; do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle or vice versa. The bottle can be reused; before each new filling, clean it in the same way as before first use. The dispenser contains a spring and several plastic parts and is harder to clean thoroughly, so it is better to replace it with a new one when changing the contents. A flat cylindrical bottle wall makes it easier to apply a label. At the end of its life, glass belongs with glass, the dispenser is made up of several materials and is sorted separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the nasal spray in the amber glass bottle suitable for hydrosols?
Yes, hydrosols and other water-based preparations with low viscosity are the most suitable contents for this set. The amber glass protects the hydrosol from light, which accelerates loss of scent and change of colour, and the dispenser releases small, identical doses in a fine mist. The hydrosol must be clear and free of particles, otherwise the dispenser nozzle will clog.
Why is the glass nasal spray bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to its nominal volume, because the remaining space is a reserve for the dip tube and the submerged part of the pump, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it to the brim, the contents will overflow through the neck when you screw on the pump. You can find the nominal volume in the product parameters.
Can the nasal spray set be used for food preparations?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for contact with food, it is intended for cosmetics. Certification for direct contact with food is held only by the glass bottle on its own, the dispenser does not have it. For food infusions or syrups, therefore, combine the bottle with a closure that has such certification on its own.
Will oil or a thicker serum pass through the nasal spray dispenser?
No, the dispenser is intended for thin water-based contents, and neither oils nor thick serums will reliably pass through the narrow tube and nozzle. Either the dose is significantly reduced or the nozzle clogs. For oil-based and thick preparations, choose a bottle with a dropper or with a dispenser for more viscous contents.
How is the glass bottle with the nasal spray cleaned and can it be reused?
The bottle can be reused; before each filling, wash it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry. Rinse the dispenser with clean water by pressing it several times and let it dry, but thorough cleaning of the inside of the mechanism is not possible. When changing the contents or after prolonged use, it is better to replace the dispenser with a new one.
Does the amber glass bottle with the nasal spray protect the contents from light better than a clear one?
Yes, amber glass lets through considerably less light than clear glass and slows down light-induced changes in the scent, colour and effectiveness of the contents. For hydrosols, infusions and preparations with sensitive ingredients it is therefore more suitable than clear glass. Even so, store the contents out of direct sunlight; glass dampens light, it does not stop it completely.
