Product description

The green glass bottle with a capacity of 50 ml and a nasal sprayer pump forms ready-to-use packaging for liquid preparations that are applied into the nose in small, repeatable doses. It is suitable, for example, for saline solutions or aqueous preparations with hydrolates. Green glass reduces the passage of light and does not react with the contents. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; it is not approved for contact with food.

What the set is suitable for

  • Nasal sprays based on saline solutions – thin solutions that are dispensed in small doses into each nostril.
  • Aqueous preparations with hydrolates – liquids where an even dose and fine dispersion matter.
  • Small batches and samples – 50 ml is used up within a reasonable time, which is important for aqueous contents without strong preservation.

The pump is designed for thin aqueous liquids. It may not reliably draw up or spray oils, thick solutions or preparations with suspended particles. For such contents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the pump beforehand.

How the pump works

The white pump with an 18/410 neck finish screws directly onto the neck of the bottle. One full press releases approximately 0.12 ml of the contents in the form of a fine mist. The applicator has an elongated shape adapted for insertion into the nose. It is protected by a clear overcap, which prevents contamination of the nozzle between uses.

After filling and screwing on, the pump must first be primed with several empty presses until the tube and chamber draw up the liquid. Only then does it dispense evenly.

The dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle so that it can be adapted to different bottles with the same neck. Before first use, check that it reaches close to the bottom and, if necessary, trim it at an angle with clean scissors. A tube that is too long bends and draws in air, while one that is too short leaves some of the contents at the bottom. An angled cut prevents the end of the tube from sticking to the bottom.

Capacity and filling

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is intended for with normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the submerged tube of the pump and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled completely, the contents will overflow when the pump is screwed on and soil the thread.

Good to know

Before first filling, we recommend washing and disinfecting the bottle and letting it dry completely. The pump can be rinsed by spraying clean water through it and then left to dry. For contents intended for the nose, the cleanliness of the packaging and hygiene during filling are more important than with ordinary cosmetics.

Aqueous solutions without preservation are prone to microbial spoilage. The microbiological stability of the preparation and its classification in the correct product category are always the responsibility of the manufacturer. The packaging alone does not determine this.

The pump contains plastic parts, a steel spring and a glass ball. For solutions with a higher proportion of alcohol or with essential oils, we recommend checking whether the tightness and smoothness of dispensing change over time.

The set is intended for cosmetics. None of its components is approved for contact with food, so it is not suitable for food solutions or beverage concentrates.

The glass bottle can be reused. For recycling, glass belongs with glass; the pump is made of mixed materials and must be separated from the bottle before disposal. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the nasal sprayer pump release per press?
One full press releases approximately 0.12 ml of liquid in the form of a fine mist. This dose applies to thin aqueous solutions and after the pump has been primed with several empty presses. With thicker contents, the dose may be smaller or uneven, so if you use a different type of liquid, it is advisable to test it beforehand.
Is the green glass bottle suitable for light-sensitive contents?
Green glass reduces the passage of light and protects the contents better than clear glass. However, it does not provide complete protection from light, so even a filled bottle should be stored out of direct sunlight in a dry, clean environment.
Can the bottle and the nasal sprayer pump be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. The pump is rinsed by spraying clean water through it and left to dry. For contents intended for the nose, we recommend replacing the pump after longer use, because the internal parts of the pump cannot be cleaned thoroughly.
Why is the 50 ml glass bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the neck. The rest of the volume is a reserve for the tube of the pump, which displaces part of the contents, and for the expansion of the liquid with changes in temperature. If it is filled to the brim, the contents overflow when the pump is screwed on and soil the thread.
Is this set also suitable for oils or a thick serum?
No, the pump is designed for thin aqueous liquids. The pump draws up oils and thick solutions with difficulty and produces a stream or drops instead of a mist. For oil-based contents, the same bottle is suitable with a different closure, for example a dropper with the same neck type.
