Product description
Glass bottle, vial, nasal spray, 15 ml
A ready-to-use set for targeted dosing of small amounts of liquid preparation: a brown glass vial with a nominal volume of 15 ml and a white nasal spray pump that releases a measured dose as a fine mist with each press. Brown glass reduces light transmission, protecting contents sensitive to oxidation. The set is suitable for liquid preparations applied in small quantities: hydrolates, tonics and refreshing mists in travel size, samples of water-based serums, or preparations for skin care around the nose.
Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not approved for food contact and is therefore intended exclusively for cosmetic preparations.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – brown glass slows the degradation of UV-sensitive components, which is especially beneficial for hydrolates, vitamin water serums and preparations containing essential oils.
- Precise dosing – the mechanism releases the same dose with each press, so the contents are neither spilled nor over-dosed.
- Fine mist – the longer nozzle directs the dispersed content onto a small area. The set is therefore practical for targeted application, not for spraying over the entire face or hair.
- Glass durability – glass does not react with alcohol or water-based solutions and does not absorb fragrance, so the bottle can be reused after thorough washing.
- Small volume – 15 ml is a suitable amount for samples, test batches and travel sizes where the contents are used up quickly.
What contents is the set suitable for
The pump works reliably with thin aqueous and alcoholic solutions: hydrolates, tonics, low-viscosity water serums or alcoholic extracts. Thick serums with a higher proportion of gelling agents, emulsions and oils will not spray evenly through the nozzle. The mechanism may clog or release content in drops instead of mist. If the formulation contains a thickener, it is advisable to reduce its dosage and test the spray behaviour with the finished preparation.
Preparations with a higher content of essential oils or solvents are stored in glass bottles without issue. However, the pump is made of plastics and a steel spring, so with such contents, check after a few weeks whether any change in scent, discolouration, or deterioration of the mechanism's function occurs.
Preparations intended for application into the nasal cavity may not fall under cosmetic legislation. The set is declared for cosmetic use only, so verify the classification before placing such a product on the market.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the container is intended for during standard filling. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the pump tube, headspace air and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents may be pushed out when fitting the pump and the thread may not seal properly.
What is good to know when working with the set
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely. The pump only needs to be rinsed with clean water or alcohol and left to dry; prolonged soaking of the mechanism is not recommended.
- Priming – after filling and screwing on the pump, press the actuator several times without dispensing until the tube and mechanism are filled with the contents. Only then will the spray dose evenly.
- Dip tube – the pump tube is longer than the bottle. Before assembly, trim it so it reaches the bottom without bending. Only then will the contents be dispensed down to the last doses.
- Tightening – the pump is tightened by hand. Excessive force will not improve the seal and may damage the thread of the plastic collar.
- Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after washing. The pump may not be perfectly cleanable after oily or thickened contents, so it is better to use a new one when changing the filling.
- Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling. The pump is a combination of plastics and a steel spring and should be separated from the bottle before disposal.
If the contents are intended as a fine mist for the skin, verify the dosage of the preservative. A water-based preparation without adequate preservation will deteriorate quickly even in dark glass at room temperature.
Closures with the same neck type as specified in the parameters, and other ready-made vial combinations with a dropper or atomiser, are available in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
