Amber Plastic Bottle, Black Lotion Pump with Black Overcap, 100 ml

A ready-made combination of a bottle and a lotion pump for serums, fluids, body milks and lighter creams that are dispensed with a press, so there is no need to pour them out of the packaging or scoop them with your fingers. The amber PET bottle filters light and protects contents with sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils, vitamins or extracts, from ageing faster. The plastic is light and unbreakable, so the set suits the bathroom, travel and retail, where glass is a problem because of its weight or fragility.

You fit the black lotion pump with dip tube directly onto the bottle neck, as both parts have the same 18 mm neck. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact, the pump does not, so the set is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

• Face and hair serums – small doses without fingers touching the contents, and the amber plastic additionally protects active ingredients from light.
• Fluids and light emulsions – the pump draws up liquid and medium-thick textures, and the packaging can be operated with one hand.
• Body and face milks – a volume of 100 ml lasts several weeks of normal use, which is enough even for a test batch.
• Gels and light creams – with thicker textures, check beforehand that the pump dispenses the contents.
• Oil blends – the PET bottle withstands common vegetable oils.

How the set dispenses

The lotion pump draws up the contents through a dip tube that reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle. One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which corresponds to one dose of serum or a smaller dose of face milk. For body products, you simply press several times. The bottle must stand upright while dispensing, as it does not dispense when turned upside down.

Before first use, the pump usually needs a few priming presses until the tube and the head fill with the product. A small amount below the end of the tube cannot be drawn up by the pump. After unscrewing the pump, the remainder can be tipped out of the bottle.

Nominal volume and filling

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling. The volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the pump body, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the rim. An overfilled bottle overflows after the pump is fitted and the contents reach the thread, where they become sticky and make sealing difficult.

Good to know

• Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Water residues in the tube could dilute the contents.
• Temperature of the filling – PET is filled only with contents that have cooled down. Leave emulsions to cool at room temperature and only then pour them in, as hot contents may deform the wall of the bottle.
• Material sensitivity – the bottle is not intended for aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or organic solvents, we recommend a test in one bottle over several weeks.
• Light and heat – amber plastic filters light, but it does not replace correct storage. Do not leave the filled set in a sunny place or near a heat source.
• Reuse – once empty, the bottle and the pump can be washed and refilled. Rinse the tube and the head with warm water with a little washing-up liquid, pump clean water through several times, disinfect and leave to dry. When changing the recipe, especially to a different fragrance, it is better to use a new pump.
• Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the pump of PP, so separate them before disposal and sort them as plastics.
