Product description
This amber glass medicine bottle with a 15 ml capacity and a glossy white and gold pump is designed for filling and precise dispensing of small volumes of liquid cosmetics. The dark glass filters light, so it is particularly suitable for facial serums, oils and other products whose ingredients quickly lose potency when exposed to light. The pump releases the contents in small amounts, the bottle is not opened during use and fingers do not come into contact with the contents.
The set is supplied as a ready-made combination of bottle and closure. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The set is not intended for food.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial and eye serums – the pump delivers small doses that are easy to spread over the face or the eye area, and the remaining contents are not exposed to air with each use.
- Facial oils and oil serums – amber glass protects light-sensitive oils, and the pump dispenses them without running down the neck.
- Light emulsions and fluids – liquid to slightly thick textures that the pump with its tube draws up and dispenses evenly.
- Samples and travel packs – 15 ml is enough to test a formulation or for a shorter trip, with no need to decant the contents from a larger pack.
Filling and using the pump
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The brimful volume given in the parameters is larger. The difference provides room for the tube and the lower part of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle will push the contents out through the neck when the pump is fitted and clog the thread.
The pump tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting it for the first time, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors so that it reaches just above the bottom and does not bend when screwed in. A correctly shortened tube also draws up the remaining contents from the bottom.
One press of the pump delivers approximately 0.14 ml. After filling, press the pump several times until the tube and the mechanism fill and the product starts to come out.
Before filling an entire batch, check on a single piece how the pump handles your particular formulation. A texture that is too thick is difficult to draw up and the dose is not even, while a very runny product may continue to drip from the nozzle for a moment after pressing.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump by pumping clean water through it and let it drain, so that no water remains in the tube.
- Glass and heat – let a hot emulsion cool down before filling. A sudden temperature difference is not good for glass, and warm contents contract as they cool, so the level in the bottle will drop.
- Essential oils and solvents – glass does not react with them, but the plastic parts of the pump may. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, check the compatibility of the pump over time.
- Preservation – the pump limits contact of the contents with air and fingers, but it does not replace preservation of water-based and emulsion formulations.
- Reuse – the glass bottle can be washed and refilled. Residues of the contents in the tube and valve of the pump are harder to remove. When changing the type of contents, for example from an oil to a water-based serum, it is better to fit a new pump.
- Recycling – glass is sorted as glass. The pump combines plastic, PP and aluminium and is disposed of separately from the bottle.
The set is intended exclusively for cosmetics. Neither the bottle nor the pump is certified for contact with food, so it is not suitable for homemade oils, syrups or infusions.
