Product description

Glass bottle, frosted, white and silver glossy pump, 30 ml

A small glass bottle with a pump for serums, facial oils and light emulsions that are dispensed in small amounts and should not come into contact with fingers. The frosted matte glass reduces shine and gives the packaging a subdued look, while the level and colour of the contents remain visible. The pump with a white body and a glossy silver collar completes the packaging, so it suits both home cosmetic making and small production runs intended for sale.

The set consists of a bottle with a nominal volume of 30 ml and a plastic pump whose dimensions match its neck. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for contact with food.

What it is used for

  • Facial serums and fluids – the low viscosity passes through the pump without problems, and the small volume matches typical consumption with daily use.
  • Facial and body oils – glass does not react with oils, and the pump releases them in small amounts without contact with fingers.
  • Light creams and emulsions – the pump dispenses a thinner emulsion in an even dose. With thicker creams, first check whether the pump can draw them up.
  • Samples and travel packs – products that the customer uses by the drop, for example oil elixirs or concentrated serums.

How the pump works

Each press releases approximately 0.14 ml of contents, which corresponds to a typical dose of serum or oil for the face. The dip tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first filling, trim it with a sharp knife so that it ends just above the bottom and does not bend. The contents do not touch your hands during dispensing, which makes use more hygienic with sensitive formulations, but it does not replace preservation.

Before first use, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the tube fills and it begins to dispense evenly. With oils this takes a little longer than with water-based serums.

Nominal volume and brimful capacity

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, that is, to the amount it is intended for in normal use. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the dip tube of the pump and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. A bottle filled to the neck leaks through the thread once the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water, or alcohol, and let it dry as well. Water in the tube would otherwise dilute the first doses.

Glass withstands water-based, alcohol-based and oil-based contents without change. The pump has plastic parts made of polypropylene, so for formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check how it behaves after several weeks of contact with the contents.

Do not pour hot contents into the glass bottle. Let emulsions and oil blends cool to room temperature before filling, as a sudden change in temperature can damage the glass.

The pump is not intended for thick ointments, balms or products with particles, such as scrubs. Solid particles clog the pump valve and thick contents are not drawn up through the tube.

When reusing, wash the bottle thoroughly and disinfect it again. The pump can be cleaned by rinsing with warm water and alcohol. When changing the contents from oil to a water-based formulation, replacing the pump with a new one is safer. The components are sorted separately: the glass goes into glass recycling, and the pump combines plastic with aluminium.

Frequently asked questions

Is the glass bottle with a pump suitable for contact with food?
No, this set is intended for cosmetics. Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, but they are not approved for food or drinks. They suit serums, facial and body oils or light emulsions. For food use, choose packaging whose suitability for food contact is explicitly stated in the parameters.
How much does the pump dispense per press?
Approximately 0.14 ml. With serums and facial oils this corresponds to one dose, while with body oils two to three presses are used. The actual amount depends on the viscosity of the contents; thicker emulsions are drawn up more slowly and the dose may be slightly smaller. Before filling a batch, measure the dose with your specific formulation.
Is the glass bottle with a pump suitable for facial oil?
Yes, it is one of the most common uses of this set. Glass does not react with oils and the pump releases the oil in small amounts without contact with fingers. With oils containing a higher proportion of essential oils, check how the plastic parts of the pump behave after longer storage, as they are made of polypropylene.
How full should the 30 ml glass bottle be filled?
To the nominal volume of 30 ml. The brimful capacity is larger and you will find it in the parameters, but it serves as a reserve for the pump tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. A bottle filled to the neck leaks through the thread when the pump is screwed on.
Can the glass bottle with a pump be reused?
Yes. Once empty, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry; glass keeps its properties with normal handling. Rinse the pump with water and alcohol. When switching to a different type of contents, or if it no longer pumps properly, it is better to replace it with a new one, as residues of the old formulation in the tube and valve are difficult to remove.
Is this set also suitable for thick cream?
Not for thick creams and balms. The pump is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity contents, such as serums, fluids and light emulsions. Thick cream is not drawn up through the tube, or the dose is significantly smaller. For thick textures, choose a jar or a bottle with a different type of closure.
