Product description

The glass bottle with oil pump dispenser, 100 ml, is a ready-to-fill set for facial and body oils, oil serums, massage blends, and oil cleansers. The base is a green glass bottle with an 18/410 neck, fitted with a black plastic pump dispenser with a long dip tube and a transparent protective cap. Green glass reduces some of the light reaching the contents, which is a practical advantage for oils prone to oxidation, while still allowing you to see the fill level. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial oil serum – a single press dispenses exactly the right amount of oil to comfortably apply to the face and neck, without spilling and without finger contact with the contents.
  • Body and massage oil – the dispenser works one-handed, which you will appreciate more during a massage or after a shower than a dropper or unscrewing a cap.
  • Oil cleanser and cleansing oil – the contents remain sealed during normal bathroom use and water from hands does not enter the bottle.
  • Oil blends with active ingredients – glass does not react with the contents, making it suitable for blends with more sensitive components.
  • Hair and beard oils – a small dose prevents hair from being weighed down and the narrow bottle is easy to grip.

How the set works

The dispenser is designed for liquid oils. It draws them up through a dip tube from the bottom of the bottle and delivers a small, consistent dose with each press; the exact value is listed in the specifications. The tube reaches almost to the bottom, so nearly all of the contents can be used up without tilting the bottle. The transparent cap protects the dispenser opening from dust and catches any residual oil that would otherwise run down the bottle.

For proper dispensing, the contents must be sufficiently fluid. Thick buttery blends, oils thickened with wax, or blends that solidify in the cold cannot be pumped or will clog the dispenser. The set is designed for oils; for other formulation types we recommend a test fill.

When first used, press the dispenser several times without dispensing until the dip tube fills with oil. The first few doses may be smaller until the system is primed.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling. Total volume to the rim is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the dispenser dip tube, which displaces some of the contents upward when screwed on, and for oil expansion with temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the rim. Overfilling will cause oil to overflow through the neck when attaching the dispenser, soiling the thread.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and dispenser before first use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Water residues in oil promote microbial growth.
  • Neat essential oils and solvents – the plastic parts of the dispenser and the polystyrene cap may be softened or clouded over time by neat essential oils, fragrance compositions with a high solvent content, or alcohol. With standard facial oils containing essential oils in the single-digit percentage range this is generally not an issue; for more concentrated blends we recommend a test fill.
  • Glass and temperature – do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Pour oil into it only after it has cooled to room temperature.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection. The dispenser cannot be cleaned thoroughly; when changing the contents or after extended use, we recommend replacing it.
  • Labelling – the cylindrical shape and flat wall of the bottle allow a label to be applied around the circumference.
  • Other closures – the bottle can also be combined with other closures with the same neck type; ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal and dosing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – glass goes into glass waste; separate the dispenser and cap before disposal and place them in plastics.

The set is not approved for food contact. Do not use it for edible oils, syrups, or other food products; it is intended for cosmetic use only.

Frequently asked questions

Is the glass bottle with oil pump dispenser suitable for a facial oil containing essential oils?
Yes, with a standard proportion of essential oils in the single-digit percentage range the set is suitable. Glass does not react with the contents and the green colouring reduces some of the light. The plastic parts of the dispenser are in contact with the oil only briefly; however, for blends with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents we recommend checking dispenser behaviour with a test fill.
Does green glass protect oils from light as effectively as brown glass?
Green glass reduces some light, but the protection is partial and weaker than that of brown glass. For oils with high sensitivity to oxidation, such as linseed or rosehip, we recommend storing the bottle out of direct sunlight or choosing brown glass. For standard facial and body oils, green glass is sufficient.
How much oil should I fill into the glass bottle with dispenser?
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the rim. The headspace above the fill line is a reserve for the dispenser dip tube and for oil expansion in heat. Filling to the rim will cause oil to overflow when attaching the dispenser, soiling the thread and potentially compromising the seal. Exact values for the nominal and total volume can be found in the specifications.
Can the oil dispenser be used for a cream or thick butter?
No, the dispenser is designed for liquid oils and thin blends. Creams, butters, wax-thickened oils, or blends that solidify in the cold cannot be pumped or will clog it. For thicker textures, choose a jar or bottle with a cream-specific pump, available in the Handymade range.
Can I fill the oil dispenser bottle with a water-based toner or an alcohol tincture?
The set is designed for oils and is not the first choice for water-based or alcohol-based contents. The dispenser will pump an aqueous solution, but the small dose sized for oils is impractical for toners, and alcohol may affect the plastic parts over time. For toners and tinctures, we recommend pairing a bottle with the same neck with a spray or dropper.
