Product description

A 30 ml glass bottle with an oil pump dispenser is a ready-made complete packaging and closure for small volumes of oils and oil serums. Brown glass reduces light exposure, helping to protect content sensitive to oxidation, especially vegetable and essential oils. The dispenser delivers a small, repeatable dose with each press, so the contents do not spill or drip down the neck.

The set is intended for oil-based and low-viscosity preparations: facial and hair oils, oil serums, beard oils, cuticle oils, and massage oils. The 30 ml volume corresponds to a standard packaging size for a leave-on product applied in small doses and consumed over several months.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct contact with food; the dispenser and cap do not, so the set is intended for cosmetics, not for filling food products.

How the set works

  • Brown glass – limits light penetration into the contents and slows the changes that light accelerates in oils. Glass does not react with oils or essential oils.
  • Oil pump dispenser – a pump head with a dip tube that delivers a defined dose without opening the bottle. The contents thus come into contact with air and hands less than with a dropper or pouring.
  • Transparent cap – covers the pump head against dust and accidental pressing during transport or in a cosmetics bag.
  • Nominal and total volume – the nominal volume is the quantity for which the packaging is intended in standard filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the dispenser dip tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Exact values are in the specifications.

Use in practice

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. The dispenser only needs to be rinsed with clean alcohol and also left to dry. No water must remain in the mechanism, to prevent it from getting into the oil.

The dispenser works best with liquid oils and oil serums. Very thick oils, such as pure castor oil, or blends with a high proportion of butters may dispense more slowly and unevenly. We recommend testing the behaviour of a specific formulation on a sample before filling a larger number of units.

After filling, attach the dispenser, tighten it firmly, and press it several times empty until it starts dispensing. If the dip tube reaches the bottom and bends, shorten it so that it ends just above the bottom. A dip tube resting against the bottom draws up less efficiently.

Aqueous solutions, hydrolates, and tonics are not suitable for this set; the dispenser is designed for oils. For alcoholic tinctures and preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying how the plastic of the dispenser and cap reacts to the contents over time. The glass itself has no problem with them.

Fill only to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill the bottle to the neck, the contents will be pushed out when the dispenser is fitted and the dip tube will have no room. The oil also expands when heated.

The bottle is suitable for repeated use if you wash and dry it thoroughly between fillings. The dispenser is harder to clean, so we recommend replacing it when changing the formulation.

At the end of its life, glass belongs in the glass waste stream and plastic parts in plastics. Unscrew the dispenser before disposal.

Closure combinations

The bottle has a standard neck as specified in the parameters. Caps, droppers, and sprayers with the same neck type, as well as other ready-made packaging and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 30 ml glass bottle with an oil pump dispenser suitable for facial oil?
Yes, facial oil is a typical use for this set. Brown glass protects the oil from light and the dispenser delivers a small amount, which for facial oil usually corresponds to one application. The 30 ml volume corresponds to a standard packaging size for facial oil for several months of use.
Can the oil pump dispenser also be used for water-based products, such as a tonic?
Not recommended. The dispenser is designed for oils and oil serums. For tonics and hydrolates, a bottle with a spray pump or a standard cap with the same neck type is more suitable.
How much oil fits in the 30 ml glass bottle with a pump dispenser?
It is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The bottle has a larger physical brim-full volume, but this difference provides a reserve for the dispenser dip tube and for oil expansion with temperature changes. If filled to the neck, the contents will be pushed out when the dispenser is fitted.
Can the oil pump dispenser handle thick oils and butters?
Only to a limited extent. It dispenses liquid oils and oil serums reliably; very thick oils or blends with a high proportion of butters may pump slowly and unevenly. Before filling a larger number of units, we recommend testing the specific formulation on a single sample.
Is the glass bottle and pump dispenser set also suitable for food products?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct contact with food; the dispenser and transparent cap do not. For cooking oils or syrups, therefore use a bottle with a closure that has a food-grade certificate.
