Glass bottle with oil dropper, 30 ml is a complete packaging and closure set for facial and hair oils, oil serums and massage oils in a small format, dispensed drop by drop without finger contact with the contents. It consists of a black glossy glass bottle, a black oil dropper and a transparent protective cap. The black glass protects the oil from light, which accelerates yellowing and oxidation, and the glossy surface gives the bottle the look of a finished product without any further treatment.

The bottle and both plastic components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The food-contact certificate applies separately only to the glass bottle; the complete set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

• Protection of contents from light – black glass significantly limits light exposure, making it suitable for oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, such as rosehip, cranberry or hemp, which quickly lose quality in clear glass.

Which products is it suitable for

The oil dropper is designed for liquid to mildly viscous oils. It works best for facial oil serums, cuticle and beard oils, hair oils for the ends, body and massage oils in travel size, or oil treatments with dissolved active ingredients. The 30 ml volume corresponds to a product used drop by drop over several weeks to months, which is why protection from light and air is especially important.

The set is not intended for watery tonics, thick butters, balms or products with particles that could clog the tube or valve, nor for products that need to be sealed sterile. For water-and-oil biphasic serums, we recommend testing the dropper function in advance, as it may draw up the separated phases differently.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold during standard filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume right up to the neck and is higher. The difference between them provides a buffer for the dropper tube, which displaces some space when screwed in, and for the expansion of the oil with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, never to the brim, otherwise the oil will overflow through the neck when fitting the dropper and contaminate the thread.

What to know when filling

Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely; water residues would cloud the oil. The dropper only needs to be rinsed with clean water, pumped empty and left to dry. After screwing on the dropper, press it several times on empty until the tube and valve fill up and oil begins to come out.

When selecting the contents, bear in mind that the plastic parts of the dropper come into contact with the product. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or oil-based solvents, we recommend testing the dropper's behaviour in the specific formulation several weeks in advance to check whether it softens, becomes sticky or changes colour. The transparent cap is made of polystyrene and does not come into contact with the contents, but essential oils spilled on its inner surface may cloud it.

When travelling, we recommend transporting the bottle upright or in a sealable bag; the dropper is not designed for extended transport upside down. Both a transparent and a white label stand out well on the glossy black surface.

When empty, the glass bottle goes into glass recycling, and the plastic parts of the dropper and cap go into plastics. Before disposal, pour out any remaining oil and separate the parts.
