Product description

Glass bottle, glossy black, with oil dispenser 50 ml is a ready-to-fill set for facial and hair oils, oil serums and other liquid preparations applied in small doses. It consists of a glossy black glass vial, a black plastic pump dispenser with a dip tube and a transparent cap that protects the pump. The set is delivered assembled and ready to fill, so there is no need to search for a closure with the right neck or verify whether it will seal.

The main advantage is the combination of opaque glass, which protects the contents from light, and pump dispensing, where the contents do not come into contact with fingers and the bottle remains closed during use.

Why black glass and a pump dispenser

  • Light protection – black glass blocks light, which slows down oxidation of light-sensitive oils (rosehip, cranberry, hemp oil, oils containing carotenes or vitamin E). The contents will therefore retain their scent and colour for longer.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the contents are released only when the pump is pressed; fingers or a dropper that has touched the skin never enter the bottle. This is particularly advantageous for unpreserved oils, where the introduction of water or contaminants is the greatest risk.
  • Precise small dose – the pump delivers approximately 0.18 ml per press, which equals a few drops. The customer can easily apply one to three pumps to the face without the risk of pouring out more than needed.
  • Odourless glass – glass does not absorb fragrances or dyes, does not react with essential oils, and after thorough washing the bottle can be reused.
  • Transparent cap – covers the pump outlet from dust and prevents accidental pressing in a bag or on a shelf.

How to fill and use the set

Before the first fill, we recommend washing and disinfecting the bottle (with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and allowing it to dry completely. If you also rinse the pump, let it drain and dry fully, otherwise the water in the tube would mix with the oil. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the neck, so that the contents do not overflow when the pump is screwed on and the dip tube is submerged.

After screwing on the pump, prime it by pressing several times to draw oil into the tube until the first dose appears. The tube is longer than the height of the bottle so that it reaches the bottom. If oil is drawn up poorly because the tube is bent, we recommend trimming it at an angle so that its end sits just above the bottom.

The pump is designed for liquid oils and oil serums with low to medium viscosity. Thick blends containing butters or waxes, oils with solid particles, or blends that solidify at lower temperatures may clog the pump or dispense unevenly. For thicker formulations, we recommend testing the pump with a small sample first.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions and which is stated on the label. Total brim volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the pump with its dip tube, which displaces some of the contents upward when screwed in, and for the expansion of oil with temperature changes. Always fill to the nominal volume. The exact values of both volumes are listed in the product parameters.

Suitable mainly for

  • facial oils and oil serums – one pump corresponds to a typical amount for the face and neck,
  • oils for the skin around the eyes and cuticles – a small dose without overflow,
  • hair oils for the ends – the customer takes only as much as they can rub between their palms,
  • beard and moustache oils – glossy black glass suits the design of men's lines,
  • massage blends in small packaging for travel or as a sample.

Less suitable for water-based tonics and hydrolats, which are usually sprayed, and for thick balms or butters that cannot be dispensed with a pump.

What is good to know

Contact with cosmetics and food. The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a food-contact certification, but the pump and its cap do not, so the set is intended for cosmetic use, not for food-grade oils.

Reuse. The glass bottle can be reused after washing. The pump should be flushed clean before refilling so that no old oil remains in the tube and valve, which would oxidise and spoil the scent of the new contents. If the pump cannot be flushed completely clean, we recommend replacing it.

Label. Apply the label to dry and degreased glass, otherwise it may slide on the glossy surface.

Temperature and impact. Glass is not suitable for sudden temperature changes and may break if dropped on a hard surface. For shipments, we recommend wrapping the bottle in bubble wrap and tightening the pump so that it does not come loose during transport.

Recycling. Once the product is used up, glass and plastic parts should be sorted separately.

Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations for this bottle, are available in the Handymade range. If you assemble your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the pump behaviour with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle with oil pump dispenser protect the contents from light?
Yes, black glass is opaque and blocks light, which slows down oxidation of light-sensitive oils. It is particularly suitable for rosehip, cranberry and hemp oil and for blends containing vitamin E or carotenes. Light is, however, only one factor; the contents are also protected by a properly tightened pump and storage away from heat.
Which oils can be dispensed with the pump on the 50 ml bottle?
The pump is designed for liquid oils and oil serums with low to medium viscosity, such as jojoba, almond, grapeseed or argan oil and their blends. Thick blends with butters, waxes or solid particles may clog it, and oils that solidify at lower temperatures dispense unevenly. When in doubt, we recommend testing the pump with a small sample.
How much oil does the oil pump dispenser deliver per press?
The pump delivers approximately 0.18 ml of oil per press, which equals a few drops. One to three presses is sufficient for a facial application. The actual dose depends on the oil's viscosity and whether the pump was properly primed before use; the first presses after filling are often incomplete.
Is the glass bottle with oil pump dispenser suitable for food-grade oils?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The glass bottle alone holds a food-contact certification, but the plastic pump and its transparent cap do not. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic use, i.e. for facial, hair and massage oils.
How to clean the oil pump dispenser before refilling?
Flush the pump through with warm water and dish soap, then with clean water, and finally pump through ethanol or isopropyl alcohol to remove residual oil from the tube and valve. Allow to dry completely; otherwise any remaining water in the tube would mix with the new contents. Wash, disinfect and dry the glass bottle the same way as before the first fill.
Why is the 50 ml bottle with pump not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml because the total brim volume is larger and the difference serves as a reserve. When the pump is screwed on, the dip tube submerges into the oil and pushes the level upward; the oil also expands slightly in warm conditions. A bottle filled to the neck would therefore overflow after closing and contaminate the thread.
