Product description
A set for small packs of face serums, oil serums and light emulsions: a glossy black glass bottle with a volume of 15 ml and a white and silver pump. Black glass blocks light, so it protects the contents from its effects. Each press of the pump dispenses a small, repeatable amount, so the product is used cleanly and without fingers touching the contents.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the pump does not, so the set is intended for cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Face and eye serums – the small volume matches the usual packaging of concentrated formulations that are dispensed in a few drops.
- Oil serums and face oils – opaque glass protects oils from light.
- Light emulsions and fluids – the pump draws the contents up through a dip tube and handles liquid to slightly creamy textures.
- Samples and travel packs – glossy black glass with a contrasting pump looks like a finished pack even without further finishing.
Thick creams and butters do not belong in this set. A pump with a dip tube will not draw them up, or will push them out only with great resistance, so a jar is more suitable for such textures.
How to fill and dispense
The bottle has a nominal volume of 15 ml, that is, the volume it is intended for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is larger and you can find it in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the dip tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upwards once screwed on. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not up to the neck.
The pump dip tube is longer than the bottle. Before screwing the pump on, shorten the tube so that it reaches the bottom, and pump the first doses out to waste. The pump must first fill with the contents before it dispenses evenly.
One dose is approximately 0.14 ml. The actual amount depends on the density of the formulation, so check it if you are using your own formulation.
A pump with an 18/415 neck finish fits this bottle with an 18/410 neck finish, and the set fits together. You can find further closures for the bottle sold separately and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute an anhydrous product and is an unnecessary risk in water-based formulations.
The pump is made of PP plastic with aluminium parts. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, check how the closure behaves directly with the finished product, especially its tightness and any staining of the plastic parts.
Fill the contents once they have cooled to room temperature, not while hot.
After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. The glass and the plastic and aluminium pump are sorted separately according to local rules.
