A ready-made set for dispensing liquid preparations drop by drop: a black glossy glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml, a plastic dropper insert placed in the neck and a white smooth cap with an 18/410 neck finish. Black glass does not let light through, so the contents stay protected from both daylight and artificial light. You will appreciate this especially with oils and active ingredients, which light gradually degrades.

The set is suitable for face and hair serums, oil blends for the face or beard, tinctures, concentrates of active ingredients or blends of essential oils in a carrier oil. The dropper insert narrows the opening of the neck, so the contents come out drop by drop and do not spill all at once if the open bottle is knocked over. The glossy black surface with the white cap gives the product a uniform look without any further finishing.

How the set works

The bottle has a medicine bottle shape with a narrow neck and an 18/410 neck finish. A clear short polypropylene dropper insert is pressed into the neck, and the cap is then screwed on over it. The cap is smooth and is closed by hand.

To dispense, tilt the bottle or turn it upside down with the neck facing down. The speed of the drops depends on the viscosity of the contents: thin oils and aqueous solutions flow faster, thicker serums more slowly. With very thick preparations or gel textures, the dropper insert tends to hinder dispensing, and packaging with a pump is more suitable in that case.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the quantity the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brim volume is the physical volume up to the top of the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper insert, which takes up part of the space in the neck once pressed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. A bottle filled to the brim overflows when the dropper insert is fitted, and the contents get onto the thread and prevent the cap from being tightened properly.

What it is suitable for

Oil serums and facial oils – dark glass slows down the oxidation of light-sensitive oils, and drop dispensing matches the amount normally applied to the face.
Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – massage and aromatherapy blends are dispensed precisely, and the bottle does not have to stay open for long.
Tinctures and alcoholic extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and its opacity to light protects plant pigments and active ingredients.
Concentrates of active ingredients – aqueous serums with vitamins, peptides or plant extracts, where protection from light and dispensing in small amounts matter.
Beard oil and hair oil treatments – for larger single-use amounts, simply tilt the bottle and let the drops run out.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, the dropper insert and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The glass medicine bottle can be reused after washing. After using the dropper insert with oils, wash it thoroughly, because residues of dried oil narrow the opening and change the size of the drop. When changing the type of preparation, we recommend replacing the dropper insert with a new one.

Fill the bottle through a funnel or from a beaker with a spout up to the nominal volume, and press in the dropper insert only after filling. Wipe the thread before tightening the cap so that no oil remains on it.

Do not fill the glass with hot contents. A sudden change in temperature can damage the glass, and the polypropylene dropper insert deforms at higher temperatures. Let the preparation cool to room temperature before filling.

The dropper insert and the cap are made of polypropylene and polyethylene. With concentrated blends of essential oils or other strong solvents, we recommend checking that the plastic parts withstand the contents in the long term without changing shape or losing tightness.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; neither the dropper insert nor the cap has one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic preparations.

At the end of its life, the glass belongs in glass recycling; the dropper insert and the cap are separated and sorted as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle protect the contents from light?

Yes, the black glossy glass is opaque and no light passes through the wall of the bottle. It is therefore suitable for vegetable oils, vitamins and plant extracts, which degrade faster when exposed to light. The drawback of opaque glass is that you cannot see how much of the preparation is left in the bottle, so it is worth checking the level occasionally by tilting it.
